Freedom Munitions order mix up

snakeye: yelling? I did read your post. I believed the OP made a reasonable decision, based on the quality of the bullet, scarcity of ammo. I guess I do not see 500 rds as excessive. If they did not work for him , he could sell or trade for something in the future. Sorry, did not mean to offend. Be Safe,

snakeye: yelling?

using caps can be a way to emphasize saying something but it is also seen as a form of yelling if you use all caps in a sentence

as to the discussion:

I was looking for hornady xtp factory loads but could not find them.

after doing a lot of reading and watching test done on youtube I felt confident that the hornady xtp would suit me well.

in order to test different ammo you need to FIND different ammo and quality name brand HP ammo (if it can be found) is $1.50-$2 a single round and im not willing to range test HP ammo at those prices.

when I saw the FM hornady xtp I was happy with the price (41 cents per round) and wanted to get the 250 box but all they had was 500 or 1000 so I went with the only small box they had available (500)

as soon as they have horandy xtp in stock I will reorder them, hopefully in the 250 box so I can shoot 50 rounds to test and then store the rest

Surprised to hear about problems with them, I only ordered once, 250 rounds 9mm, came in when promised and shot fine.

well I don't know how it shoots but it didn't look bad it was just not the same ammo I ordered.

Give them some time and they'll probably get your charges sorted out.

FYI I've reloaded using the Hornady XTP bullets and have to tell you that these particular bullets are VERY GENERIC looking hollowpoints. If you were expecting bullets with the insert like Hornady's Critical Defense you were incorrect in your expectations. The XTP bullets feature an open hollow point and look very much like the cheap hollowpoints sold by Prvi Partisan. In addition if you read the literature for the XTP bullets you'll find that Hornady claims an expension of only 50%, so they are NOT premium level Self Defense bullets.

However, if you load the on the hot side in the 45 ACP they should prove to be effective for Defense as long as they are well placed. Which is why I picked up 3 boxes. Fact is that I'm down to my last 3 boxes of Speer Gold Dots and wanted to have a fallback position in the event of the current ammo craze going on too long. BTW, I learned one lesson from this, that is next time I see Speer Gold Dot bullets for sale I'll purchase every box I can.

yes I do know exactly what hornady xtp looks like and I also know what generic hp looks like. this is NOT my mistake.

see the pictures in the links above, these were not open hollow points and I would have no faith in them working as hollow points. I am sure they will open but never for certain or in the same way each time.
