Freedom Munitions order mix up

I have ordered only 9mm in new, re-manufactued and Blaster training ammo, and had 1 round fail to chamber properly out of the 5,000 or so that I have purchased in the past from Freedom. So my experience has been great.

As coincidence would have it I was checking them out yesterday ready to order some .40S&W SD & practice ammo. I'm glad you posted this because I won't give them my business. I'll find somewhere else to order from or just wait until local stores have some in stock at a fair price.

You may have saved me from making a mistake.

I believe that, when they say Hornady XTP they mean the bullets inside of their new and remanufactured ammo. You aren't getting the actual Hornady built ammo, but you are getting Hornady made bullets like this:

Hornady XTP Pistol Bullets | Brownells

All of their ammo would be packaged under their own Freedom Munitions label.

its a good thought, and I knew it wasn't hornady factory loads but it was supposed to be hornady bullets loaded by freedom and it wasn't.

see below

I'm trying to understand what the OP expected and what went wrong.

If the OP ordered ammo that was to be loaded with a 9mm 124 gr. XTP Hornady bullet, but received something other than that bullet, I can understand the problem.

that is exactly what happened to me, this is what I ordered:

http://www.freedommunitions.com/category-s/2894.htm

those bullets in the picture are hornady xtp but what I got was this:

http://www.freedommunitions.com/category-s/2035.htm

as you can see they are not even close to the same and at the very least they need to charge me the advertised price for the lesser ammo instead of charging me extra for the special hornady xtp loads I did not recieve

the difference is the hornady xtp were priced at $203 where the regular generic JHP was selling at $180 something so its somewhere around $20 more I paid for nothing

So you claim it was a bait and switch, right? I know you said you tried multiple avenues to contact them to tell them that they sent the wrong item and they were not reachable. One thing that is probably is they are probably working quite hard at creating ammo due to the shortages. I don't know how many times you tried to call, nor when. So, I can't say that they aren't good. But it is possible they have been overwhelmed with calls and emails and you are a small fish in a big sea of them. I would be surprised if they didn't respond ever, but it could take a while.

They aren't infallible and it could have been an honest mistake. I've worked in Shipping before. It happens. The good companies figure out that they charged for one thing and sent another, or if they charged for the stuff they sent, they will apologize and ask if you want to exchange and pay the difference. The really good companies will ship out what you wanted at no extra charge because of the hassle it created with you.

So, I don't know- it is up to you as to whether you will keep attempting to phone them. I would, but I do agree that they likely need better customer service (including more of someone to answer) and a better email response team. Do they have a Facebook page? Sometimes you can get response from companies there that you can't get other places.

So, I'm not saying that they didn't screw you. I am saying that it might not be as it seems.

For every bad story there probably 1000 happy customers.

HAPPY CUSTOMERS DONT POST ABOUT IT.

I can give you bad stories from every store or online place you shop.

As for FM, i tried them and got what i ordered and what i have used has worked. I also see they have started to lower their price already.

I have purchased several thousand 9mm RN in both "Reman" and "New". Back when they were .26/round I thought it was great range ammo, but when they got as high as .34 & .36/round, I stopped buying from them. Now they are back down to .31 and maybe one more price drop and I'll order from them again. For me it is great for the range.

Sorry that OP had a bad experience.

I have been keeping an eye on their website and everything I see is still showing "Out Of Stock" wonder what gives with that?

On the home page just above the pic of all the ammo is:
SAVE TIME - >> CLICK HERE << TO CHECK WHAT'S IN STOCK RIGHT NOW

If you click the CLICK HERE it brings up the page of what they have available:
In Stock Now...

I just ordered the 500 round box of 9mm 124 gr. XTP Hornady advertised @ 44 cents a round from freedom munitions

I figured that's not too bad for quality new XTP Hornady hollow point ammo in my opinion, especially since the only hollow points I have seen being sold anywhere want $1 per round or more

well after I finally got my ammo in I found out it was a bait and switch! they advertised 9mm 124 gr. XTP Hornady yet what they sent me was just plain old generic no name brand hollow points made by freedom munitions NOT XTP Hornaday HP rounds. they were advertised as XTP Hornady but were freedom munitions own version of their imitation of XTP Hornady (a very poor attempt to copy if you ask me), well I know better now so I wont make that mistake again!

if you are going to order from freedom munitions be aware you are only getting freedom munitions own generic ammo no matter what misleading way they try to misrepresent it.

they don't answer the phone for the online or the retail store and they wont respond to emails, they only take new orders

is it the end of the world? no.
will they work and shoot? yes im sure they will.
is it a decent price for generic HP ammo? I guess some might find it ok
will you get the same accuracy, expansion rates, and dependability as XTP Hornady? absolutely NOT

I wanted high quality ammo for SD rounds so these are not something I would have bought if I knew what they were going to give me.

I guess I just have a lot more expensive range ammo now, just wish I didn't buy 500 rounds of it.

yes I know, bullet placement is key, any bullet placed right does the job, blah blah blah, but when your bullet placement might not be as accurate in HD situations, I want every advantage (no matter how small) that a dependable high quality round can give me so a not so well placed shot still does sufficient damage

Well I have had nothing but good experiences with their ammo. Not really hot but softer shooting than normal but good range ammo...

I do have to ask the question though...you said you bought 500 rounds for self defense....500 rounds for self defense? Sounds more like range quantities more so than self defense.

For self defense purposes most of us have shot different SD rounds to ensure we are comfortable and secure with the round and pistol combination to come through when we should ever need it. When I determined which SD ammo I liked and trusted I bought a couple of 20 round boxes of it and every now and then will rip off a mag of it at a range session to stay comfortable with it and keep the ammo fresh, maybe two boxes a a year. But to go and buy 500 rounds that I had never used and call it my SD ammo is something myself and a lot of other people would never do.

Any way you can post a clear photo of the ammo/bullet design you received?

Whether or not FM's ammo is good or isn't, really
isn't the point. The ad indicated one thing; what OP got
was something else. FM's Customer Service could have
stopped a lot of bad press here, by explaining the situation
to the OP.
Personally, in his place, I'd be upset, too. It's the
principle of the thing.

Keaker, not sure how you tried to contact us but I dont see an email here, I can help here on the confussion if I had an order# or contact me ,we do load an XTP bullet and also our own production HP. You may got wrong product as we have both but we do not sell Hornady factory ammunition. As the web site says in numerous places we load all of our own products. We are the only manufature to take back any product we sell for any reason.

I only did that because all they had in "new" hornady ammo was the 500 round boxes, everything else was reloads

I figured a few friends would want buy a couple boxes from me to differ the cost and quantity issue. I figure I was only going to keep 150-200 rounds for myself.

as to the untested issue im taking a risk there just going based on the hornady name but there just aren't much choices out there for HP ammo right now and if its name brand its often $1 a round or more so I took a gamble on this

Any way you can post a clear photo of the ammo/bullet design you received?

I already did but here it is again 9mm 124 gr. HP

and once again, to be clear, I am not complaining about the ammo itself but the apparent bait and switch that happened

rudy, yes I understood it was not hornady factory loads but I was thinking it was your loads with hornady bullets or maybe your in house version of the hornady xtp bullets, I wasn't 100% sure which.

hannah contacted me today, I sent her the emails since she sent me one when she confirmed the order was received.

she explained that there was some sort of major foul up in the warehouse and the ordering system and lots of people got the wrong stuff. it would appear she will send me a return label and refund my order.

I will post about what happens next

Just an FYI to everyone who has either checked in on this thread or will do so in the future. I contacted them through Facebook and gave them the link to this thread so they could deal with it.

Moral of the story - don't jump to conclusions too quickly and also attempting contact can be done in myriad ways, some may work better than others.

The Hornady listing we use are loaded with Hornady factury bullets , we offer new brass and processed brass, sometimes we do ship a wrong order but since we ship 300-500 a day not to bad. Again if for any reason we will return/credit on our dollor any product anyone is not happy with. Don't know many retailers that will do that foe their customers. Thanks for the feedback and commucations we recieve.

thank you for reaching them for me

as for "contact can be done in myriad of ways"

I sent emails that were not responded to.

the retail store phone rings only to give you the message to call the non working internet phone number for online orders.

the online phone number has been disconnected and is no longer in service according the to operator.

so while contact may be ATTEMPTED in myriad of ways, actually getting a response isn't easy at all.

so I made every possible attempt to contact them and "reach out" short of creating a facebook account that I do not want and refuse to open. why should I be FORCED to join facebook to get a response from freedom munitions?

obviously the only way to make easy contact with this company is through facebook and I refuse to join facebook for my own reasons and others feel as I do about facebook so where does that leave people like me?

not sure what kind of staffing issues they have but they need to work on email response times and the customer being able to contact them in an easy timely way

UPDATE:

I just received an email notification telling me that I have received a full refund on my order so I must say I am very happy with they way they handled this mix up once they found out there was an issue, except for the difficulty that I had in trying to make contact with them in the first place.

while I felt cheated at first, they did explain the situation to my satisfaction and since I used to be a small businessman for 30 years, I really do understand how things can get mixed up and "stuff" happens sometimes.

seeing the kind of response I got from them once I was actually in contact with them, I would not have any concern about doing business with them again provided they had a working phone number that was able to connect you with a person at some point. I hope they get that fixed.

YOU ARE JOKING RIGHT? When I determined that my SD and my wife's SD were correct I bought 2 cases of each ( 1K rounds each ) same lot #, powder, bullet etc. So I KNOW that I have enough for both of us for a few years. I do not have to worry about changes in bullet, powder, brass, current party in the whitehouse, or some ridiculous law/media that cause our chosen load to triple in price. I agree that their may be a"better" round in the future but at least I have a SD round that I know works. Yes it appears as though the OP had not tested the round for himself in his weapon, But if I had to buy ammo in a panic time/situation, I would go with a proven, quality ammo and not look back. But I also carry 3 mags instead of just the one in the gun. Paranoid? , No just prepared. Be Safe,

No I wasn't joking and I really don't see your point as to why you think I was. My point was that one should test their SD ammo of choice first and be comfortable and trust that SD round with you life before you just run out and buy 500 rounds of it. Then once you do test it and like it then you can go buy all the rounds you want which is what you yourself did.

Even the OP admitted in another post before yours he was buying just for the Hornady bullet and was taking a risk that he would like it. You probably need to re-read my post and his reply and be prepared. 3 mags on your person? Paranoid? probably...lol

By the way most forums do not allow yelling and personally I really don't care for it either. Might want to be more careful about that in the future.
