Can oysters be frozen? What I mean is will they taste the same or close after being thawed?

I've never been faced with a mess of oysters I couldn't handle in one setting before. But my BIL just dropped off a pail full of shucked extra smalls that I don't think bigfoot could down in one go.

They will be fine in something like chowder or linguine w/clam sauce. I've eaten some that were flash frozen at minus 40 degrees and they were really good. They will never be as good as they are right out of the shell raw. Come to think of it nothing is a good after it has been frozen. I used to bring fish home and end up freezing them, I never ate them afterwards unless they were smoked.

Thanx for advice. I plan to fry them so that should work out OK. I knew they wouldn't taste like fresh.
