Frozen Dinners

I actually cook quite a lot, but sometimes cooking for one - just don't want to do it!
I also like the Marie's, Stouffer's, Lean that Cuisine, Trade with Joe, etc.
Except for the Marie's Pot Pies, I can probably make everything better than the frozen when and if I want to.
Sometimes I do, sometimes I put one in the Microwave!

re pot pies: Growing up we had them a lot as they were cheap. To stretch her food dollars, mom would put white rice on a plate and dump two pot pies on top. It was filling.

re tv dinners:

We didn't have them that often because there were 5 of us and I, my brother and dad had to have two each as one just wasn't enough. The little freezer over the fridge couldn't hold much else with eight dinners in there and mom would have to make them in shifts as eight wouldn't fit in the oven.

Trader Joe's has a bunch of very good frozen foods, all of these are better than the comparable TV dinners:

fettuccine Alfredo, orange chicken, pot stickers,
five cheese nochi,
country potatoes with wild mushrooms and verts,
several varieties of macaroni and cheese,
meatballs,
lasagna,
and a bunch of frozen seafood.

I'd much rather have Trader Joe's frozen dinners than anything by Stoufers or Marie Callener. Ironically, Trader Joe's is less expensive than traditional grocery store frozen dinners per portion.

There are two Trader Joe's in OK. One is in Tulsa and the one is in NW OKC, Nichols Hills, the place where property starts in the millions. Too far, too much traffic to make it worth while.

Marie Callendar turkey and chicken pot pies are excellent. Microwave for 10 min, set for five minutes and dig in.
We eat them occasionally and at less than $3 each, not bad.

TV dinners [emoji3] Yes, as a child of the 50's and 60's I called them that too! I used to love those.

Child of the 50's here too, Swanson's TV Turkey Dinners were a real treat. But no TV!:(
Mom would save the little aluminum trays and make her own frozen dinners with leftovers after a big meal.

May not apply since I'm a vegetarian, but most of my favorites are from Amy's Kitchen.

In no particular order...

Country Cheddar Bowl
Broccoli and Cheddar Bake Bowl
Pad Thai
Cheese Enchillada Meal
Marie Callendar's Plant-Based Pot Pies

I also like Amy's Kitchen's frozen burritos.

When I still ate meat, my go-to frozen dinners were the Hungry Man turkey dinner and Boston Market's Salisbury steak dinner.
Since when is cheese a vegetable?

The only frozen meals in my house are pot pies and only when on sale. Even then I consider them more of a between meal snack to take the edge off.
