Frustrated with My new Shield 9

If you carrying as an EDC and have to draw the gun the last thing you will want to have to remember is "slow and steady"
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Accurate beats speed every time.

SMR,
Shoot it from a rest, as suggested, before you call it bad. The sights could be off, but you can't be sure until you shoot from a rest.

The Shield can be dry fired as much as you like. I have at least 50,000 dry presses on my .45 without an issue.

SMR, i've had the 9 Shield and now have the .40. I think your Shield is fine.
Here's a trick with these small pistols. They need a correct follow through. What i'm saying is IMO, you're not letting it recoil properly.
I had this problem with both the Shields and the XDs. I'm used to compact to full size handguns and when I shoot the Shield, I have to make a conscious effort to let it recoil properly.
Not trying to rag on you or your ability. Give it a try and keep us posted.

Shawn, I will even take that I am "twitching," but how do you explain that my shots with my XD9 are right on the money center mass? Thats whats puzzling me.

Simple, every gun is different. I have 4 semi auto pistols and each is slightly different so that I have to adjust my grip for each gun. They all have different recoil, sight radius, etc. took me a while to get use to my shield. If I don't shoot it for a while, I have to relearn all the things that I did to shoot accurately. That is why you should practice with it on a regular basis if it will be your carry gun.

Had Shield9 for over a year...put about 700 rds down range at paper targets...grouping was acceptable...try shooting clay pigeons (if your range allows) at 14-21 feet. This method gives immediate feed back for grip and sight pic...worked for me...I love my shield now more than ever...

SMR

I bet your trigger is that fault. My 40 Shield was causing the same thing AND I didn't like the trigger. A little gritty and the break point was like a wall. I put an Apex mod in and life is good.
