Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Accurate beats speed every time.If you carrying as an EDC and have to draw the gun the last thing you will want to have to remember is "slow and steady"

Shoot it from a rest, as suggested, before you call it bad. The sights could be off, but you can't be sure until you shoot from a rest.
The Shield can be dry fired as much as you like. I have at least 50,000 dry presses on my .45 without an issue.
