Now that I have 3-FS M&P's and 2-Shields, I am thinking of adding a FS M&P 22 to the fold. Was wondering what the current pricing was on this model? Bud's has them listed at $318 or make offer. Seems I've seen them advertised around $299. Is this a good price for the FS M&P 22?

I really wish the rear sight had the 2 dots to match the FS M&P's/Shields; but I will try them before doing any changes. As with any model, I know there could be an issue; but I've had good luck with all my hand guns and am willing to give this one a try as well. So any comments appreciated, as always :)

I tried my sons new M&P22 the other day firing Winchester 36gr xpert ammo. What a disaster that was. plenty of failures to eject, failure to chamber a round, a few stove pipes. Went home and looked at some other gun tests on this model and found the only problem is the Winchester 36 gr ammo.

The test was conducted using 9 different 22 ammo brands and all worked well except the 36 gr Winchester. They had all the same issues as I did. Going back to range this week with different ammo. Going to try some CCI and Federal ammo.

Hopefully all will work this time. I will have to save the 500 rds of Winchester for another gun.

Buy the compact you'll be much happier in the end
The full size is made by Walther, and has a poor reputation

Got mine new/used (30 rounds through it) for $215.
Guy didn't end up liking a full size 22 pistol. His loss was my gain.
Winchester 36 grain is the only ammo it doesn't like.

I purchased my S&W M&P .22LR full-size pistol for $399 to accompany my M&P full-size 9mm. Here are two observations:

1) It's VERY picky what type of ammo this will fire consistently without hickups. Mine works best with Remington Golden Bullets and CCI Mini Mags. This isn't all bad, it can will help you to learn and practice how to clear jams quickly (LOL).

2) You can, at a risk, replace the two-dot rear sites with the ones from a full-size 9mm or .40cal M&P. S&W Customer Service however recommended to me NOT to do this...so proceed with caution as you can easily damage the aluminum slide. I use my M&P .22 to practice drawing from a Galco Kingtuk IWB holster and mostly point shooting. It's a LOT cheaper than with the 9mm cartridge cost. I often conceal carry my 9mm FS and the .22 is a near perfect match except in overall weight and recoil.

I almost sold mine 6 months ago, but could not get anywhere close to what I wanted for it...less than $200. So, now I'm happy holding onto it even though I don't shoot it very often.

mp 22 c

My only experience with any S & W is the 22 compact. We purchased one for my wife, who wanted to exercise our rights, so we got our Indiana CCW and off to the store. She selected a m&p 22 c, I selected a kimber custom II (us army 1973 you know I am gonna pick a 45)

Once she was practiced enough and able to produce a group, I took it from her and shot a nickel size group at 25'.

We begun trying to zero the weapon, it was striking 2" low, and 3" right. Elevation was a piece of cake, and we were striking level on the horizon in no time flat.

Now to move 3" left should be a piece of cake, lickedy split. SO I start cranking on the sight, 1" out, crank some more, Bullseye, so I shoot a couple of clips, and BAM the rear sight is GONE?? She saids "Look is that it there on the bench"? Sure enough it is, I pick it up and pit it back in at the insertion point cut in the rear sight track. Hand her the weapon, she shoots her loose group 1 1/2 " but striking at the center mass of target, BOOM sight is GONE AGAIN. This time we find it laying on the floor.

Google m&p 22c rear sight falling out and see how many hits you find?!

I contact S&W here via chat, they reassure me don't worry its warranty for life we stand behind our products.

Let me tell you I sent it "Home" to S & W they had it for several weeks, shipped it back with no explanation of what they did, the weapon was DIRTY and I sent it in US ARMY CLEAN!!

They had to look it up they claimed they replaced the rear sight assembly, and test fired, and said we leave it dirty so you know we test fired it. WELL what if I got it back and put it away for several years DIRTY, don't you think you need to tell the customer that has never had to send ANY of his weapons 'HOME" and had no idea you sent weapons out DIRTY that this is your policy?? That barrel could have been damaged, had I not checked it.

I take it to the range, and shoot a group adjust this time for 7 yards. 21' and let me tell you, its the same way, I have to crank the rear sight to the left so far it travels to the insertion point of the track, and than can pop out.

There are many instances of this on the web I wish we had researched this BEFORE my wife picked out her first weapon, and the family's first and LAST S & W product.

I sent them a detailed 2 page letter with this gun, and they all but ignored it, kept the 22 for several weeks and sent it back, and it does the same thing.

We will be riding our self's of this and will have NO S&W products.

She is getting kimber Sapphire Pro II for Christmas!

BTW when the S&W rep suggested fingernail polish to keep the sight in tact she said,... "EXCUSE ME, what did you just say"?
"No My husband paid $400.00 + dollars for a gun that Me, and my grandchildren's life may depend on and it has stuff falling off of it, and you want me to put fingernail polish on it to hold it tougher"?
