I would love to see S&W remake the 4506-1 and the 1006. Those 2 pistols were excellent. Great ergonomics, full size steel frames and slide which soaked up the recoil. Accurate and easy to shoot.
I agree with you, totally. Unfortunatly, unless there is a market, they have no reason to re-introduce a pistol that has been replaced by plastic. Maybe after the plastic turns to ****.....
I'd love to see the return of the all steel and alloy framed Smith autos as well! But like 10xatten said, polymer is the new fad at present.
Granted cops today are almost as burdened as the military with attar gear on their duty belts, so a lighter load is appreciated. But I for one would gladly carry an alloy 5903 or all-steel 5906 as my daily carry piece!
And I frequently do carry a 5946, now there's a pistol! Dale
Or, in the meantime, they could simply make available for sale the WVSP Melonite 4566TSW. They already make it and had a sales sample on display at the 2012 SHOT show. But they refuse to sell it to the great unwashed.
Why? Your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps it would decrease.....decimate....their sales of plastic 45 wonder pistols. The ugly ones with the lousy triggers and droopy dust covers.
But they do continue to push out and market 1911 pistols. No market saturation there, right? Regards 18DAI
I have to say, I like all of my 10XX series guns, they are built well and work well...Not everyone is employed in law enforcement, but we too can appreciate great guns.
I completely agree , my 645 was an instant classic. I wanted a 1911 till I found one at a pawnshop. Now I'm trying to get one in every caliber available. I just wish the 40 could interchange with a 357 Sig ....
