Alright so I want to start a thread about rimfire rounds. So here are the rules before you list a rimfire round you either have to post a picture of a gun that fires that round or tell a story about you using that round, and the story has to be first hand, no hand me down stories here folks.

I'm sure we'll get the usual 22 varieties and 17 variations but I'm really looking forward to learning about some of uncommon rimfire rounds and seeing some really scarce guns.

I'll go first, and get the easiest caliber out of the way. The 22LR.

I'm sure my experiences with the 22lr are a lot like most of you. It was the first round I ever shot, my first gun was in 22lr, a good percent of my current selection is in 22lr, my first animal taken was with a 22lr. I remember my father and grandfather teaching me gun safety and marksmanship skills over top of an old remington bolt action calibered in 22lr. So I guess you could say the 22lr is the foundation to my "gun loving lifestyle".

Another aspect I've found about the 22lr is the fact that I have introduced many many people into the gun scene by taking them to the range and passing along the same gun safety and marksmanship skills. Not to mention the look on their face while they plink 38g of lead through paper, coffee cans, stumps and shaken up soda bottles.

With all of that said I can easily say that the 22lr has a special place in my heart, here is a picture of my only S&W in 22lr, and I can't wait to hear your stories, and see your pictures.

The first firearm I ever bought back in the 70's was a Ruger 10/22. I'm sure I'm not alone there.

It got stolen while deployed & I didn't get around to replacing it till about 2008 or so.

I'd love a .22 revolver but holy cow... seen the prices on used lately?

I'll play!!!

When I first met my wife's parents, her dad and I hit it right off as we were both "gun nuts". During my first visit to their home he showed me the model 63 pictured and a paper plate with 6 holes in it you could cover with a quarter. My wife of course was responsible for the target using that 63. He was some kind of proud!!!!
When he passed in 2004 the 63 was passed to my wife.
Since We have fraternal twin boys, my collection theme is in weapons that are alike, but differant. Just like my boys.
Shortly after his passing and the 63 coming home with us I found the 34 pictured to pair up with the 63.
I'm with the original poster in my love for .22's, there is just not many things as fun and as cheap as plinking away with 22's
That's my story and I'm sticking to it :-) Shoot safe and remember, gun control means hitting your target.

great replies so far! Although I was really hoping to see some .44 henry, .25 stevens, and even a 2.34mm! you know some "unbeaten path" rimfires.

Here is a .41 rf. Remington derringer I had. We shot it a few times.

Here's my latest:

(just another CZ 452 American, but I'm waiting on the suppressor to make it something a bit different)

Another 22 LR, that I think is a bit special:

(Winchester 1885 low wall 22 LR take down from1914; it does better than these results would indicate for people with younger eyes than mine)

Another Winchester (that still needs to be sorted out):

Some shots of my son and daughter-in-law with my all-time favorite plinker; one of those Izhmash Biathlon 7-2-KO's (notice the exploding target in the background):

I'm pretty much stuck on 22LR's. About the closest that I've come to anything "exotic" is an Anschutz 1502 in 17M2, a cartridge that seems to be going the way of the doo-doo bird. Because of it's rumored demise, I've stocked-up on the ammo. The "Annie" is a real tack driver, but I'm almost afraid to shoot it anymore.
No photos of the Annie, but here are some others in my rimfire arsenol:

Some weird off-brand 22's:

And finally, to get us back in the S&W frame of mind, a few J-s:

Thanks for the opportunity to post. -S2

I use a GSG 1911/.22 for training to save money. I can shoot several times as much ammo compared to 9mm and .45.
This is the GSG with my Springfield Loaded-
