Stopped by a garage sale I happened across early this morning on my way into town. Only reason I stopped was, although it had a "garage sale" sign out by the road it was really a yard sale at what looked like a an older farm home.

First thing I saw of interest was a U.S. Air Force Pilot's Knife. Checking it out I saw it is an original Camillus dated 5-1984. Sticker said 3 bucks so I snatched it up.

Next thing I noticed was a box with some assorted boxes of 9mm ammo in it. I pulled out several boxes and checked the ammo and it was all new factory stuff. I waved a guy over working the yard sale and asked "how much for the ammo?"

He looked at the box and said, "Hmmm . . . will you do $25?"

When I got it home it came out to 650 rounds of various brands of factory new 9mm 115 grain FMJ.

Wow ! Great haul . Just the knife alone would of still been great .
I would of asked if there were any guns .

Most places you'd have to give 25 bucks just for the pilot's knife. That one looks to be in good shape.

Great!

I once bought an almost-brand-new Buck 110, made circa 1972, at a yard sale for $1.00. Yes, one dollar. It's true. This was about 1984 or 1985.

One of my shooting buddies bought a pair of Leupold 10x42 binoculars for $5. Person said broke wouldn't focus. My buddy sent them in for the lifeteem warranty and was replaced with brand new pair.

I’ve pulled that move a few times with scopes that were broke and a D cell Maglight.

Just after the start of the great ammo shortage I was out on mortgage manor buying a Jaguar xk8 and as I was leaving he asked if I was interested in any 22 ammo. I bought all he had for 2 cents around, Some were in 100 packs and there were 4 or 5 of Remington buckets of 22. He also had maybe 10 boxes of 38 special I bought for $4 a box. Then he pulls out an Italian Carcano rifle and said he wanted $35 for it. Paid too much for the car but made out like a bandit on the ammo and gun. He was selling out and moving to the Philippines.

Everytime I drive by a yard sale I ask, "Got any guns?" :D

One of these days, I'm going to stop and ask the people having the sale. ;) My wife is getting tired or rolling her eyes.
(insert rimshot)

Back on topic. I had a knife like that when I was a teen. I think I got it at an Army/Navy store, so it was probably a cheap copy, but it had that same sheath with the little sharpening stone. I remember it was a pretty good knife. No idea what happened to it.

I found a bunch of miscellaneous 45ACP at a garage sale ten years ago, and thought I might pick up a bargain, but the selling son (the gun owner Dad had passed away) wanted $1 a round because he was told that it was all "good stuff". Have never found anything firearms related reasonably priced at estate or garage sales. Congratulations!
