Gas Rings, How do you know?

Dental picks are really helpful tools when cleaning and working on any firearm. 2 picks, gently but firmly pulling apart get the edge of the ring open enough to slip over the edge of the bolt. Wind it off much like you see a guy wind off a tire at the tire shop, once you do it it gets easy and quick.

They are serious spring material, and as such, I have had them take leave of absence from the table where I was working, and they spent some time hiding in the carpet on the other side of the room!!!!:D

Helps having a strong magnet (been there...a couple times too). My cat is also great at chasing things down.

This is why I work with a magnetic tray under my work space.:D

How big is your work space ??? I'm ok with the work space under me,it's the area around me that spring/parts get wings and fly.

Also. If you loose a part. Use a pair of panty hose (Duct tapped) on the end of a Shop Vac and have at it. Works great.

Magnet is great; unless cat is a kitten capable of that mach 2.3 quick that only a 6 month old kitteh possesses, nothing alive can keep pace with a flying spring!!!:D

For those who are looking for really good magnets, K&J magnets I believe is the place. Search that, or Neodinium magnets. They are very strong, and in a variety of sizes for good prices. Until you screw around with a grade 54 neo magnet that is about 3/4"x2" long, you haven't lived!!! (Really, really strong. Like retard strong- don't know their own strength.)
