Gauging intrest for drop in ambi safety

For you lefties out there, the Norgon Ambi-Catch works with the MP15-22 ;)
RE: lever options, please remember our lever exchange program :) The most popular configuration is the standard lever on the thumb side, and short lever on the trigger finger side. The vast majority of the semi auto and M16 selectors we sell are thus configured.

Right now I just have the standard levers. Today I should be getting the crank and short thin. When I was looking at the options I figured the crank would be perfect. I wanted the short thin for the other side so it can still be used, but not get in the way of my trigger finger when I rest it on the side of the receiver in between gopher kills.

yup same thinking here, wanted something there but not big enough to interfere with firing.

I found the setup I like. :D

I forgot to wipe the oil off of this one

It makes it easier for me to put it back on safety with my thumb hooked over the top. Just a personal preference.

OK. The photos threw me for a moment; I forgot you are left-handed.

I eat and write left-handed but I'm a right-handed shooter and I'm right-eye dominant - go figure.

I'm actually right-handed, but I was born with poor vision in my right eye. I learned young that leaning over the receiver to use my left eye was a bad idea, so I started practicing the correct way. I'm glad I did, because it feels natural now.

I just started shooting pistols lefty a few years ago. I use to shift my arms over to use my good eye, but I couldn't hit a can at 15 yards. I'm just now getting the hang of it, and my accuracy is improving.

Got mine yesterday and had it installed in less than 15 minutes, very pleased with this product.

1.

I'm just wondering about the detent.

Is it the standard AR detent ???

What I mean is can I use the detents that I have for my AR if the one you guys supply go's flying and can't be found.

2.

Do you guys sell a ambi mag release set up ???

3.

Were do I get these items, from Battle Arms or That_Guy ???

I see That_Guy website, but I do not see a ambi mag release there, can I order this stuff through Battle Arms ???

Thanks

David

The detent that the 15-22 uses is the same size as the AR15 detent. The kit comes with a stainless steel detent to replace the plastic one in the 15-22.

I do not carry the Norgon ambi mag release, but Battle Arms Development does. If you want to purchase the ambi safety kit and the Norgon ambi mag release at the same time, these can be purchased from Battle Arms Development.

I will do that.

Question for Battle-Arms...

I see a combo special BAD-AZZ & MAD Hookup for the AR15 but none for the 15-22... Any chance of youns addressing this issue? :)

I am also a dealer for the MAD Hookup, I can offer a combo deal on them similar to to what Battle Arms is doing if you would like. Keep in mind the Hookup will only work on the AR15 rifles receiver extension and not the 15-22.

The AR15 receiver extension is round at the the lower receiver, while the 15-22's receiver extension has the rail for the adjustable stocks detent to ride the entire length of the extension. I suppose if you felt comfortable enough you could remove the rib, but the receiver extension is hollow, I think it is around 1/8 - 3/16 of an inch thick. I had talked with the owner of MAD to see if he wanted to bring his design over to the 15-22 platform and I started a thread about it. But there didn't seem to be much interest so the project stalled out. There are other manufacturers out there that make a product that will work on the 15-22, but does not have the same type of sling attachment that the MAD Hookup does.

I had totally overlooked how far the rail came down the tube... Thanks for pointing it out... I just really liked the look of the mad but i guess i will explore other options.

PS... Maybe a good job for Battle Arms... Plz make us a MAD/Magpul ASAP lookalike for the 15-22... Sorry im just not a fan of the QD points

Im sure the MAD will work with modification as stated. I just installed the KZ one. While its ugly and does not work with my sling, it still works just fine with the gun. Ill be getting rid of it it asap and ordering the MAD hook up. Not so much worried about a perfect fit.

It's your gun, do what you want, but...

I wouldn't do it. The "rail" is the strongest part of the tube. The rest is hollow. The lower is the firearm, so if you weaken it or notice a deflection after the mod, you're SOL.

I used the Troy Industries professional grade sling mount. I had to remove a very small amount of polymer from the "rail" with a small round chainsaw file to get the crossbolt to fit. That's the most material I would be comfortable removing. The troy mount is nice because it is rotation limited. The MI mount is not, but it doesn't require any fitting.

Im going to try it on my beater 15-22. No way would I hack up my registered lower before I know its legit.

Was thinking of cutting the bottom ridge off to the same point as an AR. Could fill in the "buffer tube" to make it stronger I guess.

Not real sure yet.
