Saw a very nice example of a pre model 30 on GB. Had a buy it now price of $500. It was listed as a model 30, but it wasn't.
I hit the buy it now button and next day I got an email saying the sellers store had been burglerized and that one had been stolen. "just forgot to take it off the auction site".

Ever had that happen?

that's a new one for sure,i just had a good experience w/ gb,picked up a 332 ti 32 mag. w/ 10 boxes of 32 ammo and a holster, hang in there another will come along soon enuff.

An FFL that would lie about being burglarized is one that should be audited.

That is no joke.

Should be a report at the local LE agency, and they would have to fill out the theft/loss report and send it in to BATFE.

Best thing to do is always report something to GB. If they have too many "guns stolen" they'll hopefully get the drift of that seller.

Hit a buy it now on a fixed price auction. "Oh, it was already sold in-store. We forgot to take it down..."

Or we were offered more then the BIN price. Some sell offline so they don't have to pay the fees. Person makes a email offer no fee gone.

I think it has been relisted in gunbroker. It looks like the same gun.

That really is a let down to push the buy it now and not get the gun. Makes you wonder if it was actually burglarized or just sold in the store (if in fact it is a brick and mortar store). All we can go by is the sellers track record on feedback and make a determination from there. Really a letdown.

I have not had it happen on GB and have made several purchases but a good friend of mine just about 2 mos ago won the bid on a Beretta shotgun which was new in the box with a scratch on the stock and it was not cheap. He made arrangements to pay and the seller contacted him and said he could not find the shotgun and had been out of town on a trip for the last week. This was an actual gun shop down in Texas and he said either it had been sold in the shop or was misplaced. You and I know if it had been sold there would be a record of it. Well of all things as it turned out it was sold in the shop while he was gone and they did find the papers so my friend was out of luck. The seller had a real good seller feedback and apologized a lot and said he did not do business that way and was real sorry and after thinking about a few days there was no hard feelings and no comments on feedback left on either side and all was well. The seller offered to sell my friend another of the same shotgun for his cost and they are still talking. But of course it would not have a scratch in the stock and would not be a pretty good discounted price.
I done some looking on the item in question and it looked like an honest mistake.

We all know it is smoke and mirrors. It`s a unethical seller useing every chance of getting the best money he can for the gun. Sure, they come up with the lie "it was stolen" or whatever. They know the odds are a thousand to one no one is going through the effert and expense from a thousand miles and states away to check out their lie. They are crooks, just help them out like you did with negative publicity like you did when it happens.

People that own retail stores or pawn shops, need to put in their auctions: 'Gun is for sale in our store and may be sold at any time, if no bid has been made'. A number of sellers will include that, and/or they will put: 'Once a bid is place, gun will be removed from shelf'.

I know there are no guarantees in life, and there are scoundrels to be found everywhere.

Also, IMHO, I wish every auction had a 'buy it now' price.

Yeah......

Even if they did check it out the response would be, "Ok, sue us."

A friend of mine was looking at a brass headboard on eBay. The BIN price was $150 plus $60 shipping. He was corresponding with the seller and the seller took it off the auction site before the end. The seller said he wanted to repost it at $300. They settled on $310 shipped. There were no bids and my friend never really hit the BIN button. This particular friend doesn't do anything quickly, his asking questions cost him $100.

I'm in the middle of a sad Gun Broker experience right now(what a coincidence)

I'm suspicioning the seller accepted another offer AFTER I won the auction..made payment..provided FFL info.

So far I don't really know what has happened...wouldn't know anything was wrong with the deal if my FFL hadn't called to ask why the gun hadn't arrived. I called the store and got an assistant who knew there was a problem..and managed to provide just enough truth(plus some quick BS)..just enough info to let me know the deal was oscarpeel and the guy I needed to talk to was 'out of pocket'!
