I just read it myself. A nephew of mine was his adjudant during the first Gulf war. He had nothing but admiration for him, and I trust the kids judgement. We loose another great man.....

That is sad news - the country lost a Patriot today if this is true.

Nothing on the evening news. May be an indication of how the media felt about him. I suspect they had some philosophcal differences.

Apart from Lara Logan, most reporters don't identify much with soldiers.

RIP General.

The timeline on most websites indicates the news broke an hour or less ago. Not much warning for the evening news even here on Pacific time.

Added:

They just put it out on the local evening news.

A wonderful man whom I met several times. I hope the first person he met on his journey was one of his West Point classmates from Vietnam. RIP Sir.

We have lost a true leader. My condolences to the family and friends. May he rest in peace.

RIP Stormen !! It was a pleasure serving with you in 1980-1983 at Mainz, and B/K, FRG

I was always riveted to the TV when the General spoke. He gave me a sense of reassurance and pride in America.

He was a great person.

I had the priviledge to be part of a security detail at an event where he was the keynote speaker.

There was a picture session where people paid big dollars for the photos posing with the General.

When the session was over, the General insisted that the photographer take a photo with each of his security detail and that they be provided to us free of cost.

The General spent a lot of time talking "Police". He talked of his father's New Jersey State Police activity, especially the time during the Lindburgh baby kidnapping.

He will be missed.

A Great Man who will be missed. I always wished that he would have wanted to run for President.

Yeah, he was a good one.
Just as Patton was, so was he.
Carry on the fight till the enemy is obliterated.
Also was given the Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor, a truly rare achievement for someone outside the Foreign Legion.

Viva la morte, viva la guerre, viva sacre mercenaire

Hometown boy made good. His father was the first Superintendent of the NJ State Police. Good people, not many left these days.
