George Lawrence Holster - size chart needed

I spent an hour or two looking online for exactly the same thing yesterday and had no luck. Digital Lawrence catalogs exist but they're available only as pay-to-download purchases: Antique Books and Catalogs in Downloadable PDF Format

Until someone uploads and hosts free versions, that's about all there is out there right now. However, if you're researching a specific holster and want to know what the code on the back refers to fit-wise, you can always post the fit code here and someone may look it up in a print catalog and let you know what you have. Good luck.

Can anyone tell me what a Lawrence 621 in size 1-C was designed to fit please. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Thanks

Thanks for the info guys. I did find what the 1C meant by pulling out my 1959 Shooter's Bible. Size was still a question mark. The 4" Python works because my little brother had one in high school many decades ago. This holster was in the family gun cabinet. I was hoping it would work on a Model 28 4". A little too tight though.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and found you guys via a google search. Over the holidays my grandfather gave me an old holster he had in his gunsafe. It is a beautiful Lawrence Floral pattern holster. I have a couple of Colt SA replica type guns and it seems like they kind of fit it right. I was wondering if one of you guys may be able to tell me exactly what gun this holster is supposed to be for.

The upper number is 25LF, below that is the Lawrence Insignia, below that is the number 9, and below that the number 6

Thanks in advance for any help!

Your holster was made for a group 9 revolver with a 6" barrel.
These included the Colt Police Positive, various Harrington & Richardson
& Iver Johnson revolvers & the S&W kit gun & Regulation Police frames.
The holster was made post WW II before 1963.

Thanks again Turnerriver - this gentleman answered my question twice, on this forum and the Colt forum. It's great finding people who don't mind helping out and sharing some information.

Lawrence Holster ID please

I have holster with upper #7D, lower #563
shoulder holster type, black, spring type retention.
I would appreciate any help with what gun fits in this.
Thanks,
Al

Al, #563 fits a 4" High Standard Sentinel.

-db- Thank you so much for that info, I never expected a reply so fast. Again, I really do appreciate it. I am happy I found this forum and the nice helpful folks on here!:):)

George Lawrence holster size

Hello, I'm looking for the size code for a 686 S&W 357mag holster from george lawrence. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I think Lawrence was out of business by the time S&W L-frames arrived. You may want to look for one that fits Colt I-frames (Python, etc.), which would be a close fit.

db is correct- the George Lawrence Co. was out of business by the mid to late 1980's. a George Lawrence catalog dated 9/1/85 does not list the 586 or 686. The Lawrence Leather Co., owned I believe by Gould & Goodrich continued the line without "George" in the name. A 1990 catalog I have for that business lists a size code of 500 for a 4" 586 or 686 & 502 for 6" versions. The 8 3/8" 686 variant is size code 831.
Now, here's where db goes Yoda on us-500 is the old GL code for the 4" Colt Trooper & .357 model & 502 is the code for the 6" Trooper, .357, Officers Model Match & the Python. db, I bow before your superior Gun Sense. If that was a guess, it was a great one. In all seriousness, I get asked pretty regularly if a holster will fit a full lug revolver & I haven't been able to give an accurate answer. Thanks to you, db, now I can.

John, thanks for the confirmation, it was just a guess on my part.

I have a GEORGE LAWRENCE FLAP HOLSTER with BASKET WEAVE PATTERN number 14BLS over the George Lawrence name then a large 538 under the name. This came from an Estate and trying to identify it for them.

Thanks,
