George Lawrence Holster - size chart needed

A George Laurence Snubnose Colt Holster?

Hello everyone :)
Someone can help me with a identification/ specification of an George Laurence Holster?
I presume the number 2 on the bottom is for the size of the barrel but for the rest I'm totally lost

If anybody wants a copy of the Lawrence sizing chart I would be glad to send you 2 PDF files. It is from a 1973 Shooters Bible. Send me a PM with your email.

lawrence 14x / 603 lefty holster

Hello,
Hard to find information on these great quality leather holsters. Any idea what a 14x / 603 would fit? i believe from the 1940-1980s series based on the mark.

Jean-Marie, I have a 20B for a 11 2. I've checked the 1945, 1948, 1952 and 1955 Shooter's Bible, but they don't have a chart. The later Shooter's Bibles only have charts with 3 numbers. Neither holster was in the 1945 or 1948 book.
I tried my Detective Special in mine. It sort of fit, but it didn't instill confidence.
Both the 20 and 22 were made for autos and revolvers.
The search goes on.

Hello all,
How about a Lawrence holster with 25 over 2 over 7 1/2. I would assume the barrel length is 7 1/2, but the holster is 9" tall and does not appear cut or shortened. Any ideas?
Thanks!

OK, so I found the #25 is the field holster model and the #2 is group 2 consisting the S&W 38-44, M1926 & 1950 Target, Colt 1917 & New Service, Shooting Master Series. My 38-44 5" fits with room but the 1917 5 1/2" fits perfectly. It's an open bottom and the stitching is uniform and tight and leather rounded at the corner. I don't think it has been shortened. Could it be a miss-stamp?

I have a George Lawrence holster no. 25 above the name and below is an R 6 7/8.
If anyone can tell me the gun it was built for, I'd appreciate it.
It is a loose fit for my Colt OMT.
Thanks,
Pogo84

db is correct- the George Lawrence Co. was out of business by the mid to late 1980's. a George Lawrence catalog dated 9/1/85 does not list the 586 or 686. The Lawrence Leather Co., owned I believe by Gould & Goodrich continued the line without "George" in the name. A 1990 catalog I have for that business lists a size code of 500 for a 4" 586 or 686 & 502 for 6" versions. The 8 3/8" 686 variant is size code 831.
Now, here's where db goes Yoda on us-500 is the old GL code for the 4" Colt Trooper & .357 model & 502 is the code for the 6" Trooper, .357, Officers Model Match & the Python. db, I bow videdyour superior Gun Sense. If that was a guess, it was a great one. In all seriousness, I get asked pretty regularly if a holster will fit a full lug revolver & I haven't been able to give an accurate answer. Thanks to you, db, now I can.

turnerriver

Ihave 2 Gould & Goodrich holsters and they are well made.Thank you for the info you provided.BTW they are for a686-3 6"

just info as this is the most informative thread I have found on the Lawrence leather. model 14 gun fit 576 is perfect for a t**** 527 tracker

Looking for some help on some numbers that don't appear in the chart...

20 over 86

Holster looks like a Challenger for a 6" S&W revolver...need to know if size 86 is a K or N frame...

Also if anyone has one, I am looking for a Lawrence preferably floral carved or basketweave belt holster for a 6" N.

Thanks Bob

If I'm deciphering the code correctly, 20 is the holster style and the 8 refers to Group 8, which includes K-frames (but not N-frames, which are in Group 2) both 4" and 6" in length, and the 6 refers to a 6" barrel.

A few years ago I happened to state in one of the threads that I was looking for a early 50s vintage 5" Pre-27. A member here contacted me stating he had a 6" for sale that was made in 1952... Now I was born in 1952 and was somewhat interested but was going to pass on it. He then stated he had a S&W Letter stating that the gun had shipped May 21, 1952...MY BIRTHDAY!!! The only question I had was "how much for the shipping". It turned out to be a nice shooter grade gun with the original numbered to the guns grips...

More interesting was where the gun had been shipped...to the George Lawrence Leather Company.... And this is why I have been looking on and off for a period GLLC holster...with no luck....

Now I would love to have a 120 Keith or a 100 Quick-Draw Flap and I even found the box to a 100 but no holster with it. Knowing these would bring a premium would have gladly settled with a Challenger which at $4.95 was less than half the price of the Keith and Quick-Draw in 1968.

So a few minutes ago I go over to GunBroker and what is there...a NEW IN BAG 120/505 for the 6" 357 MAGNUM!!

NIB GEO. LAWRENCE HOLSTER 6" LARGE FRAME D.A. !! : Gun Holsters & Gun Leather at GunBroker.com

So rather than bid and see someone else grab it for the $15.00 for the BuyNow price I just grabbed it...

..a good day...Bob

Lawrence Holster Belts

Thanks for all the useful info on Lawrence holster codes … my question is about the codes on the belts. 79 over 22 with an M off to the side … does this mean gunslinger, 22cal, medium belt size? If I'm correct, i would assume other size codes are S, M, L, XL, etc? Does anyone have a code chart for the belts? Also, I understand the "The George Lawrence Co. Portland Oregon" no longer exists but that manufacturing was taken over by "The Lawrence Leather Company". Are they still around? Thanks.

The Shooter's Bible #81 from 1970 has a complete Lawrence fit chart
with all the 3 number sizes up until 1970. None of the earlier sizes
like pre-WWII. The Bible can usually be found on the Bay.

CORRECTION: I said #81, but it should say #61. Sorry.
GOOD CATCH tipoc. Thank you/

I have an authentic George Lawrence holster purchased in 1955 along with the S&W K22 that it fits perfectly. A 24S indicates a 'plain' flap holster with a sight protector sewn in. Below the Lawrence logo is an 8 above a 6. Apparently, it is for a Group 8 revolver with a 6" barrel. Indeed, the Lawrence markings are accurate for the K22.
Does anyone know what revolvers are in Group 4 with a 6 3/4 in barrel?

Thanks, everyone
