Gets a little cumbersome / complicated… suggestions?

If it is a guided hunt, follow the advice of the guide. He is responsible for your safety. While I prefer to handle my own safekeeping, I don’t do guided hunts.

Roger.

I’ve given up on carrying the 629
At 8”

Kinda liking a 460 at 5”. Lot more bulk at hand, but I feel like good draw gun in a pinch… plus, could scope and hunt with later.

They ain’t cheap.

All ears.

You are not listening to knowledgeable people here; you need to reconsider weight. The .460 is not going to help.
Consider that a lot of experienced people in big bear country are switching to 10mm pistols.

So, any suggestions on best way to carry a .44 629-8 with easy access while also wearing binocular harness and carrying pack? Had originally thought chest holster of some sort be best, but thinking hip might be better. Would like to have a gun on me at all almost all times for 10-12 days. Thanks.

I use Bill Jordan Boarder Patrol holsters when in the mountains. They drop down below the back pack belt... jacket hem. I have one for my 19-8 4 in. and one for my 19-4 snub. They work good;

... just a thought a 4 in. bbl would work better I think....
