Just went into my local dealer. Just happen to ask him about the cool guns hanging on his wall. Some had Suppressors, under 16" short barrels, etc.

I said I wish I could get one of those. He said, not a problem. Just have to pay 200.00 for each gun, which you apply for a Federal Tax Stamp. Wait a few months and the gun is yours.

I couldn't believe it! I thought you had to apply for a FFL? He said no.
Any thoughts?

Nope you just need the tax stamp, just make sure they give you the right one an not the one to sell marijuana LOL

Wow. That's news to me. I was always under the impression, "16" and under is illegal"unless you were a dealer.

Talking about the "gun area". Hmm...not anything else

People get too much misinformation watching TV and the Movies

There are practically no firearms that you, as a private citizen, can not own in the eyes of the Federal Government. It just takes the proper form, proper tax and enough cash to purchase it.

However, some States do restrict your Second Amendment rights. Fortunatly, I do not reside in one of them

I Own many NFA Title II firearms. I am just getting ready to file a Form 1 and pay my tax to chop a SxS shotgun down to 9" and carve the stock back to a bird's head. Kind of like the old Ithaca Auto Burglar that Tubbs used to carry on Miami Vice.

Last year's project was a MP5 in 357 SIG. This is a fun gun to go full auto with.

You can't have enough 22lr cans

Not sure. But I think we need a class "C" license $200. and have to renew every year. I can't remember if it's per weapon or just one. Might be more to it too.

No, no renewal. Get your stamp and it's good for life.
3 cans, 2 SBRS here. ;)

There is also a class of NFA weapons called AOW's, or "Any Other Weapon". These include things like Serbu Super Shorty shotguns, pen guns, and some other things. They also require a tax stamp, but it's only five bucks. Still got the wait though.

So is the decision to sell to the public or not ultimately the firearm manufacturer's or the gun store's so long as you pay for the tax stamp?

I'd love to own a Kriss-Vector one day but according to their website it's only available to LE or military. Vector SMG .45 ACP TacPac

Was shooting a suppressed Kriss Vector on Wednesday. Nice little gun.

The "SMG" version is Sub Machine Gun. That's why you can't buy it new manufactured as a civilian. The one below is semi-auto.

NFA internet drama runs wild with every imaginable scenario. The bottom line (short version) is that a one time $200 stamp for each machine gun, suppressor, short barrel rifle... and other "destructive devices" of which some are $5 stamps. If you sell, the new owner needs to apply and receive new paperwork with the item registered to him and he will receive his stamp on that paperwork that is returned to the seller which is the OK (and requirement) to transfer item to new owner... You do not have to be a dealer if you are buying or selling NFA in-state. Out of state needs to go through a class 3 dealer. This is not a fast process and I am currently past 6 months wait for my next stamp...

You cannot purchase a "machine gun" that was made after April 86 unless you're a FFL/SOT, or an LEO.
And even then you can only have them until you give up your license or badge.
Rawkin with my .40 cal MP5 w/Gemtech Raptor 40.

One correction there, pretty sure that's law enforcement AGENCY. Not a LEO.

Being a LEO does not give you the right to own NFA weapons in and of itself. Certainly the use of agency owned weapons is allowed, but I am almost certain LEO's are under the same restrictions as us mere mortals when it comes to NFA gun laws.

No, an officer can purchase a select fire using Dept. letterhead for his own use in official capacity/duties.
Technically it's owned by the agency he works for, but he does get to use it.
HOWEVER upon seperating from service (retirement/transfer/termination) he must surrender the firearm to the Dept. that authorized it.
It's a very seldom used caveat.

So I guess my Kriss-Vector SMG dreams are dashed ehh? :-(
Well for a select fire yeah, however they sell semi auto Super Vs that you can turn into a short barreled rifle.
Semi Auto only, but still almost as cool.
