at least around here.

For Colorado in October average high is around 65 with lows possibly in the upper 30's. Perfect time to start thinking about chili and hearty stews.

Went to the market and got all the fixings. Nothing elaborate for me...ground beef...onion...Kuner's beans...diced tomato...roasted jalapenos. Precook the beef and low cook all the ingredients in a slow cooker for 4hrs.

Also got some eggs and tortillas for breakfast burritos.

Don't need anything for lunch. After breakfast and in anticipation of a hearty dinner the only thing I will need is a nap.

Had to break down and turn the heat on a few nights back. Dipped down in the 40s that night and figured the wife and kids had enough clothing on already. I'm glad you put chili in your beans, I have family in Texas that would fight over that

Everything is bigger and better in Texas. If you don't believe it just ask one of them. :D

The first time my wife made chili was the first time I realized that some people don't use beans, and will fight you about it :D

We make two styles of chili; Cincinnati (Mediterranean) chili and chili con carne. Neither contains beans.

However, If I am at a saloon or a friend's house and their chili has beans I'm diving in. It's all good.

Like my parents used to say..."You can eat it or wear it!"

Y'all are an impressively domestic bunch.

We celebrated this crisp autumn day going to a bagel joint for lunch and a pizza joint for dinner.

Real New Jersey Bagels?? I'm afraid to ask.
Not an expert on the Joisey way, but a friend owned a top-notch bagel joint in NY, and sometimes we'd hang with him while he worked his magic in the back.
Well, we found this place here in SC yesterday, and though the store was closed, the door was open and the staff was working on the next day's batch. We chatted with the owner a bit and observed them working. They are the real deal.
The proof was in the tasting this morning. Our sandwiches were great and we brought home a Baker's Dozen and MIL loved them.

The owners are from NJ. Even had photo's of them with James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano).
