We adopted this feller in august. He was a little guy, only 5 months. We are told he was a blue heeler and border collie mut: 35 lbs max.

He’s now 55 lbs. and taller than my knee. Appears to still be growing. All literature seems to say blue heelers are 35 max, border collies 45 lbs. max.
He’s active and very friendly. Endless energy.
Anyone have any guesses about what my dog really is?

Thanks.

Looks reasonable for BCxACD. I've fostered a couple and they were big fellas. Americans breed for size. It's not unusual to see an ACD over 50 pounds. At forty-ish my Dingo is considered smallish.

This is Buddy. Healthy weight for him sould be 50-55ish.

Oh. I thought you meant that fat sergeant on the Aussie TV show.
:D

I think, Blue Heelers is still on YouTube. The final two seasons with the new hot female detective are best.

thanks for the input.

He's still a puppy in the mind, but a 55 pound explosive ball of energy. Loves to play tug o war with a rope. Almost never sits still, and loves being around people.

People mix them on purpose. The idea is that the Border Collie will take a bit of the edge off the Cattle dog.

Robvious might be on to something with the Basenji in the woodpile. ;)

22????????

I had to put to sleep my Aussie Cattle Dog one week shy of her 22 birthday. She had suffered a stroke and was paralyzed on her left side.

Wow, I've never heard of a dog lasting that long, so you must have been doing something right. I like it more when they give you a clear cut sign that it's time without you having to waffle around undecided.
