Glock 19 or M&P 9c?

If you can get used to the 2x4 grip on a Glock then you might grow to love any of their models. Otherwise you are better off with just about anything else. I traded away my only Glock and now I have several M&P's including a 9c and I love that gun. With the finger rest it feels a little better than the flat base. And you can get the X grip adapter to use full size mags. I feel like th 9c is about perfect for weight vs compact pistol recoil.

Ford or Chevy?

Both guns are built well. Both have good and bad things about them. Both were designed and built to operate and function well with the 9mm round or 40.

You've just gotta handle them to see for yourself which one you prefer.

Ford has a tougher frame and pulls more weight, Chevy has a softer suspension and smoother ride. Both trucks will pull your 4,000lb camper just fine ;)

The 9c is a bit more compact as others have stated. And, I like the grip a lot better. Both are "built" equally well, I think. The 9c also has the option of a safety if that is a factor for you, or not.

Personally, I would prefer not to have the safety. That is one thing I do not care for on my daily carry firearm (M&P Shield)

Never liked the M&Pc anything. Too small and short a grip. The 19 feels great, points naturally and is an excellent size. Not too big and not too small. The M&P is not sure if it wants to be a Glock 19 or a Shield.

If they told me I could keep only one of my handguns, without reservation it would have to be my GLOCK 19.

I would have to boot my Rugers, my Colts (including 1911s), and all of my S&W wheel guns.

I know a few guys who will gladly trade u their Block 19's for any of those Colt 1911's.

I like the 19 and have always shot well with it. You can't go wrong with it. The 9c is a better pistol though (once you clean up that garbage they call a trigger). The 9c is what the Glock should have evolved into. I'm glad S&W picked up the ball and ran with it.

I agree. If you were to take the Glock trigger and put it in the 9c, then that would be an off the shelf amazing gun! If you were to take the M&P trigger and put it in a Glock, then you'd have the SD9.:p

I like and have owned both. Don't own a Glock anymore. If you're going to mount a laser, the 9c carries the CTL Grip Laser with very little protrusion, unlike the Glock.

I couldn't stand the factory trigger on my 9c so replaced it with an APEX FSS unit/Aluminum trigger. It's as close to a 1911 trigger as a striker fired gun can get. More $? Yup. Worth it? Yup.

They are both fine guns. Get one of each. Shoot them, and then sell the one that does not seem right for you. No matter what you do, you won't be disappointed.

Trading for more guns would defeat the premise of "if I were limited to only one defensive gun".

As you know, it would definitely take "a few" GLOCKs to equal the monetary value of any of my Colt 1911s. However, the value as a defensive gun is measured with a different yardstick.

True, but u know as well as i do. The 1911 have been used for a defensive weapon much longer than any Block on this planet. ;)

The post about trying one of each, holding them at least... Good idea. Hold the guns. The balance, feel in my hand, these are the biggies to me. Every Glock I have held, doesn't seem to fit/feel right. I don't know why. The M&P's on the other hand seem to balance in my hand almost as well as the mod 59's do. Both are well build guns, good service records and both have outstanding reviews.

So I suggest picking them up and handling them. See which one feels the best in your hand. If you get a chance to shoot both, great. Then decide. I have always handling the gun I'm interested in, if it feels good, fits well and the balance works in my hand, it's a done deal. Never been disappointed doing it that way.

I never liked the feel of Glocks, I added a Glock 17 to my collection at my wifes insistance. I would tell anyone interested in a Glock to shoot one dont just hold it, the first time I shot it I forgot all about how I didn't like how it felt while holding it. I appreciate the differences between my M&P's and my Glock.

shot both the 9c and the 19, and I own the 9c. The 9c is more compact, shoots better IMHO, comes with better sights, and has better ergos. If you need more rounds you can get a full size mag with a grip which gives you more than the G19, or you can add a +baseplate to add more rounds.

Number of rounds doesn't do it for me.

I've owned both and just sold the G19 today. Both are Very good guns and similar in size. The 9c has better ergonomics and controls (IMHO) It also packs a little slimmer and shorter
That said, if you are looking for the most compact for carry, consider the Glock 26. I currently go back and forth between my 9C and a G26 for OWB carry. The 9c still has slight ergonomics advantages (over any Glock) but the 26 does pack considerably smaller. Someday I'll decide for good .. maybe..

Ive carried a 3rd gen g19 for years. Always been flawless. Just replaced it as my carry piece for a shield. But if I could have just one, it would be the g19.
