Glock to M&P help convert me!

I have had 3 Glocks, the only and current one is a G19 gen4 and it is a jam-o-matic, Glock's customer service is poor IMO, after 5 weeks still waiting for the magic #4 recoil spring which has already been tested and still has trouble with 115FMJ ammo. Nuf Said.

I am looking for another 9mm in a compact size and maybe compact 45, so is anyone else a GLock to M&P convert.

I have alway not cared for the Glock Trigger, and I have shot a 1,000 rounds plus with that trigger. The grip has never been to my liking even though I have had three Glocks.

I do have a Kahr PM9 and like it very much even the DA trigger.

After I bought my 1st M&P I couldn't stand my Glock 27 and Glock 22 Gen 4 anymore. Nothing wrong with them at all. The M&P felt better in my hands and lined up perfectly on the draw. I have the M&P Pro 5" 9mm and will be buying another one soon.

It's all personal preference. We can all give you our point of views, but ultimately it's what feel right and fits your shooting style. I'm not a brand snob. I own many other makes and models of hand guns, rifles and shotguns.

I literally JUST switched from a Glock 22 to a fullsize M&P 9mm. I took it out to the range for the first time today and i LOVE it. Dont get me wrong i love the Glock for what it is but the M&P is just sooo nice. I shot 250 rounds of 115 gr FMJ and JHP today and not one issue what so ever. Accurate, minimal recoil, and flawless. Im ready to get my next one...maybe a 45 compact.

For a long long long time I carried either a G19 or a G23C because I felt they were the perfect compromise between size and concealment. But I got tired of compromising on ergonomics and paid to have a grip reduction gun. That pretty much ruined the rest of my Glocks unless I wanted to drop $200 per gun to make them comfortable in the hand. Then I picked up an M&P. Everything I loved about Glock but nothing that I hated. All the Glocks went bye bye and I started buying up M&Ps. The 9mm Compact is now my favorite carry gun. A little smaller and easier to conceal than the G19 but without giving up anything except 3 rounds. It also fits the hand and shoots better than the smaller G26. Consider yourself converted.

Glock has some kind of magical power over me. I don't really like them, and I think they are cheaply made, but I'll be damned if I don't want another one despite having sold two of them becasue I didn't like them.
I had an M&P 9 and it was a better gun in my opinion. So, if you can put down the koolaid I'd get the m&p.

+1 mlk18! I am very frustrated by the gen 4 glocks. They finally come out with adjustable backstraps, and the smallest one still has that stupid hump! Adjustable backstraps and it still needs a grip reduction to get rid of that hump!

I was contemplating getting a 26 gen4, when I looked at an M&P9c. Bought that instead!

I have shot 3 different Glocks all 3rd generation guns. They have been reliable. I then purchased a S&W 99 and was impressed by the improved ergonomics and super trigger. I now have two S&W M&P's - one in 9mm the other in 45 ACP. I prefer the ergonomics and trigger of the S&W M&P line to the Glock's.

I've had my M&P 9c for almost 4 years and close to 10K trouble free rounds. Some people like to change the trigger feel (name a pistol that people don't modify the trigger on) but mine feels fine to me.

At first I was torn between the M&P9c and the Glock 26. Could not make up my mind. I read excellent reviews on both guns, but it seemed like there were more reviews on the 26 only because it is an older gun. I was actually leaning hard towards the Glock because of its reputation. Then came the pricing, the Glock was a lot more $ and the dealer said they are hard to order right now. So I ordered the Smith !! Man what a gun! It feel great in my hand, and reminds me alot of my 1911. This thing is accurate, I am not a pro, but this thing is so easy to shoot it makes me look like a pro in front of everyone. I think I am obsessed with this thing ! Got to get another one. I am so glad that I didnt buy the Glock, to me they are out dated.

Couldn't be happier with my M&P 9 here. I researched, hemmed, and hawed, yet came coming back to the M&P. Just felt great in my hand.

Ultimately the fact that is was American made with lifetime warranty helped me decide. My next dilemma is which M&P I'm getting next?

One thing Glock does have over many other pistols is that you can go into almost any gun store and buy magazines and parts for them. Heck, I'm surprised you can't buy parts for them at Wal-Mart! None of the local gun shops I frequent have any S&W magazines...but they all carry Glock magazines. I wonder why that is? I suppose it's because Glock has been around much longer than the M&P line...but still, it seems like every gun shop carries stuff for Glocks, when they don't always for other brands.

I've been a long time fan of S&W, and I am trying to be patient...but I've been waiting since last October for my rebate magazines. I've called S&W four times, and first they had some equipment changes, and then it's been there are many ahead of me on the list to get their magazines. I am waiting on three sets (6 magazines total.) An empty mailbox is disappointing...

Everybody and their brother owns a Glock. But the M&P is quickly becoming very popular! Feels a lot like a 1911 to me. These things are selling like hotcakes. I fell in love after firing it for the first time and purchased another one. It will only be a matter of time when the m&p will have all of these extra modification parts available as well. A lot of these Glock lovers have converted to an m&p already, they say they will never get rid of their Glock, but it is getting shoved aside for now for the new m&p. Its time for a change !

Love my MP9c. Better fit, better look, better point, made in the USA, better customer service. The aftermarket will be comparable to Glock eventually.

Unfortunately, I have been having some extraction issues lately...just got it back from SW, havent had time to see if it has been fixed. Based on the numerous testimonies of other 9c owners, I believe mine can be as reliable as theirs.

Are you waiting for Compact magazines? I received two sets of the standard 17 rd 9mm magazines within 5 weeks. I would be frustrated with the wait too.

I've just jumped on the M&P bandwagon myself. I got the .40C. I'm so happy with the function and accuracy. Like others have said, it reminds me of my 1911's. I like this pistol. I'm trying to decide if I want a Pro Series 9mm or .40 now. Convert, you''ll be glad you did!

Yes, I am waiting on the 12 round M&P9c magazines. The last time I called (which was the 4th call I have made to check on these) I asked if they would just send me $150 instead of the six magazines. (The rebates were for $50 or two magazines, and I bought three pistols that qualified.) They said they couldn't do that. They said I would have my magazines by the end of March or first part of April...well, this is April 24th as I type this, and I still don't have them.

The Milano site shows the rebates as entered in October. Interesting note, I also bought several M&P 45s (full size and compact) last summer and I received those rebate magazines a long time ago...but the Milano site doesn't show them as shipped yet.

I've been carrying and shooting Glocks since they were new fangled and could hardly be given away. I've never had any reliability problems with them and still carry a 23 and a 27 regularly. The Glock going way back to the Gen 1 17 fits my hand well. Size-wise, the 19-23 is just plain hard to beat. I have seen a few Gen 4s showing up at ranges and haven't heard anyone complain about them other than back order issues.

On the other hand, I am not so closed minded to ignore the M&P. I've got a full-sized 45 and like it very much. In the almost 4K rounds I've fired through it, I've yet to have any kind of malfunction. I had a rolled pin start working its way out at around 800 rounds and promptly sent it back to S&W for repair. Thus far, their customer service and warranty repair is excellent in my opinion. And the problem I had hasn't resurfaced, either.

I have been a Glock armorer since 1995, and find Glocks absolutely easy to tear down and maintain. I'm still behind the curve with the M&Ps but figure that once I get around to attending an armorers' course, I will be on top of the Smith too.

I never cared for S&W's earlier semi auto offerings, although I consider their revolvers the best all-round wheel guns ever made. The M&P was different. I had a couple of Glock 21s, including the SF, shot very well with both, but compared to the full sized M&P 45, the Glock is a large brick. The magazines are easier to conceal, and the trigger is only about a pound heavier than the Glock's, and doesn't leave a blister on my finger from the trigger safety after 300 rounds.

Bought Glock22 in Feb 2010, Bought M&P in Oct 2010, sold Glock and used the money to buy 4003.
