I would say it depends on the use you plan on it having ? If it's a new gun to be put away and never used, then yes, be irritated. If you're going to use it for range and carry use, I wouldn't even bother because after a little time it'll be right back to where it is now. It's a high spot, so will rub on anything the gun comes in contact with first.

As long as there is no other wear indicating it was previously used/fired, I wouldn't stress over it.
 
Still believe it has to be logged first.
Guess they could do it at the same time as the transfer, but have never seen an FFL do it tat way.

Mine did for me in 2003 because he knew I was picky,and I was adding a costly one to my collection.
 
Wow looking at a lot of replys ( and at risk at getting spanked ) Wow is my safest word to type. The O P bought a new gun it should be in brand new condition . I like him accept nonthing less and have bought all mine to date new. Me now being retired and on a very tight budget you want what you pay for. Keep us advised O P I am with 110 %.
