Glockaholics go home!

Yeah I hate people with one-track thinking........it's mostly the reason (among others) why I got banned from one of the Ruger forums......I like Ruger and S&W revolvers and pistols, and own dozens of both. I got into a heated "debate" about how I think there's nothing wrong with IL and MIM S&W's, and everyone was like "S&W's are junk just buy a Ruger GP100" and I was like "yeah I have about 10 of 'em but I still like new S&W's" and posted pics of all my various revolvers, and next I know I was "banned" because I was "starting trouble and baiting arguments" because people started squealing on me to the mods:) Whatever, I like it here better anyway:D

In other words, if your tastes don't fall in line with other peoples' on some forums, your gun "is crap" and their (Glock, XD, etc.) is what you should have bought. I even said I had looked at a Turkish copy of the Beretta 92fs as a "range fun gun" and I got berated like I commited some mortal sin.......gun shows are even more annoying, some idiot will be looking over your shoulder when you're looking at a used 5906 or something, and be like "the Glock will last longer then that thing"

I was considering getting an M&P 9mm and was told "why just get a Glock".........it gets old.....

I don't have a problem with Glocks! I've owned my fair share of them, a couple of 17s same for 19s and one very nice 20. That said I currently don't own one nor do I entertain the idea of getting one in the near future!
No my problem is with the overly hyper owners or the "true believers" that Glock is "perfect". Uh huh, right! We've all heard it; "it'll shoot millions of rounds, it never breaks, and it's better than "insert brand here" gun!
Look folks if you like Glocks fine, but let those of us who like the other brands make up our own minds ok.
Oh and when your design hits 100 years of age let me know ok?:p

at least we know they could never make an uglier gun.

Ever see a HiPoint?

Although my brother has one (unemployed and all he could afford) and it shoots good enought to protect him and his household as his bedside gun.

I actually like shooting it. Different from my 4 M&P's, and change-up is good - keeps me from getting too comfortable of an opinion of mine. I'd love to shoot some glocks more, but have no one around to let me. Actually, I have no one to go to the range with....

Same kind of thing happens on the reloading forums. No matter what the topic, about five posts in some Dillon Disciple will start ranting about how great Dillon's "No B.S." warranty is and that whatever it is you have or are thinking about getting that isn't a Dillon ain't you know what. I've got nothing against Dillon, I just don't really care about somebody else's pathological obsession.

RCBS RULES! Green beats blue every time!

(I say this because I have all green reloading equipment.)

I say buy american get a S&W or colt.

Um..last I checked Colt was owned by FN of Belgium, think what guns they make are made here-maybe,S&W is American owned but the Brits had it for awhile.

Of the big makers if you want 100% "American made" you'll have to go Ruger,of the smaller firms Hi-Point,Phoenix and a few others come to mind.

Just noting your choices are limited, everything is made offshore now (and I like some of the stuff-sue me)

Glocks are good but don't take em to camp...

I decided to update a few years ago and had a Glock. Seemed reliable, easy to carry and accurate enough. Unfortunatly, I wore it to hunting camp and stood too close to the thecampfire. Durn thing melted right down my leg! I'm back to the old Heavy Duty.

I do not like Glocks. I don't like the weird trigger, the "plastic" frame. the whole feel of the pistol. I do not like asparagus, brocolli, Brussels sprouts, zucchini, etc. Those who do-enjoy!

Not a Glockaholic but listen....

I was forever a die hard S&W, 1911 owner. Then I got a few Sigs and one older Ruger Speed Six. My late Father hated Glocks and I believed his hate for them and followed suit. Then I started to work at a local gun shop. Got to see and feel a Glock for the first time and was impressed. That was three years ago. I have now owned two Glock 19's and I got to say they are a good gun. They lack class in the looks department for sure by my Glack19 fits my hand and the Rough Texture grip is way better then the 3rd Generation 19 I first had.

Don't judge a book buy its cover. I like all kinds of handguns. Metal is a better in the long run I know, but the plastic ones can get the job done. Glocks are well built and shoot great.

Greetings, All,

I agree with those who say, "Different strokes for different folks". One thing that I love about this forum, and a select few others to which I belong, is that we can share stuff here in "The Lounge", as friends, whether it has to do with S&W, or not.

I own quite a few handguns, which I've enjoyed for many years. Quite a few years ago, I came down with my very first (and hopefully my LAST!) case of Shingles, and it was horribly painful, often to the point of tears!! People asked me to describe the pain, and I said, "It's like someone stabbed me a thousand times with a very sharp knife, then poured gasoline on me and lit me on fire"!!! Yeah, that's what it felt like, every day, and every night, for a very long time! After several weeks of sleepless nights, and horrible days, I went back to work. My job entailed repairing video games, sound systems, and change machines, in restaurants in six different Counties. At any one time, I'd have thousands and thousands of dollars in cash in my truck any day. Part of the gig was to protect my life and limb, no matter the money, so I got a permit, and had been carrying my Colt Lightweight Officer's .45 ACP. But, after having gotten the Shingles, it was far to painful to even wear a belt, much less carry my little Colt! So, in desperation, I went to my local gunstore, and checked out a Glock M27. It was very small, very light, and almost totally immune to sweat, which was something that I did every single day on that gig!! As nothing else seemed to offer what I needed, I bought that little powerhouse, and a Galco Miami Vice shoulder holster for it. After going to the range and shooting the heck out of that little popper, I cleaned it and began carrying it everyday, in place of my Colt. That little gun, in the Galco rig, under my shirt, concealed well, and never drew a single comment or glance. it was also MUCH more comfortable with the Shingles pain, which took many months to get over. At the time, I could find no other firearm that was small enough, light enough, and powerful enough to make me feel safe and protected whilst carrying it. I grew to trust and depend on that M27, even though I still think it's kind of ugly, in truth. But, beauty is as beauty does, and for me, in my desperate time of need, that little Glock saw me through a very hard and painful time, and allowed me to continue earning my pay, and be protected, all at the same time. For that reason, I grew to love it, and still do!!

I think that S&W revolvers are the absolute cat's pajamas for class, form, and function!! I love Ruger firearms for their Mack Truck, built like a tank, functioning. I love my Colts pistols because they fit my hand like Mr. Browning made them just for me! None of that will change in the future. But, I also love my little Glock for being trustworthy, reliable, small, light, powerful, concealable, and last, THERE, when I needed something like what it offered me, during a bad time in my life!! Am I a "Glockaholic"? Nope. But, that doesn't mean that I can't own, enjoy, trust, and share such a pistol with my Friends here at the S&W forum, does it? Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc

There are a lot of diverse opinions here - and you can learn a lot from them. The knuckleheads who get all bent out of shape about every little thing and go off ranting and raving are missing that opportunity. That's OK too. :D On the other hand, I understand the OP's point and have to agree with him.

Glocks have always been a great source of amusement to me and I enjoy "bashing" them as the moment allows, but have to admit they are serious guns and do their job very well.

I always get a kick out of the "GLOCK or nothing" guys. Glocks are the answer to ANY firearms or HD question.

The other fellows who amuse me are those that reply to a question regarding AR-15's and their suggestion is to get a Ruger Miini-14!!

Same guys who break into Colt SAA threads and show off their Vaqueros' and Super Blkhwks.

The triangle of debate...

I don't get it. I have nothing against Glocks or their owners, but it gets a little old when one asks advice about a S&W gun and gets the response "get a glock". I f I wanted glock advise, I'd go to a glock forum. I've even seen this in the revolver forums. I joined this forum because I'm shopping for my first defensive handgun. Thanks to all the great advice I've recieved on this forum I have it narrowed down to a 908 or a model 60, just can't decide if I want an auto or a wheel gun more. Wish I could afford both. The 908 I found is $200 cheaper. Neither is close to a glock, so please don't try to convert me to "the plastic dark side". Thanks for letting me rant.:D

You should buy a Glock 19. :)
