Something is wrong with me.

I try to make a move to put gadgets and tactical items on my Sport but I can't do it. I love the classic lines of this rifle. The handguard and A2 front sight brings visions of the M16. Holding the rifle in a patrol type fashion feels right without a bunch of stuff hanging off it. Its light and feels deadly as is. I am trying to figure out which sight works best for me but I think that's all I am going to put on this model besides a shoulder strap.

Is something wrong with me?

Love the classic look. Just needs a carry handle instead of the flip up sights.

I like the basic AR platform because it is both light and ergonomic. Almost anything you put on adds weight and does little to improve the ergonomics. A lot of the ad-ons actually make handling worse. All I add are scopes or dots and slings.

No. You did put an extended mag and an X grip on your handgun.

That's a factory mag for the Shield.

To each, their own. As long as you're happy, why change?

The fun part is that it's easy to change IF and WHEN you decide you want to do more with it, push the envelope a little more... Or after awhile, you may decide that it just needs a little tweak here and there to "fit" to you a little better, and personalize it. It's all up to you.

The biggest mistake I see are people rushing out to "upgrade" their guns with all the "latest and greatest", without really thinking about how they intend to use them, or worse, without putting enough rounds down range to even get a feel for how they perform to begin with. Relax, take your time, and have fun!

Actually I trust my life to the Troy Battlesights. The red dot is just a hollow tube between the front and rear sight.

I don't know if I'll keep the dot or not. It can always find a home on a goose gun or the 15/22. I haven't had a chance to even fire it yet.

Mine has the carry handle and iron sights and a web sling. It is light fast and accurate. My friend has every gadget you can think of hanging on it. It weighs 11 pounds empty. He is constantly having it hang up on his clothing and has more than a couple of times had to remove his optical sights in the middle of a shoot due to loss of zero.

That's a factory mag for the Shield.

Hard to really tell from the photo. It "looks" like my "c" with the X grip. But,now that you say. It looks like my 9 Shield with the 8rd mag. Still a good choice.

Bottom line on my Sport would be EOTech,3x flip and a 3 point sling.

Some people just take a little longer getting the Melonite to seep in and take over.

I have a A2 rear stock, fold up YHM front and rear sights and a small quad gas block on a 16" barrel with YHM brake. I often replace the rear fold up sight with the carry handle much easier and faster to adjust for bullet drop at varies ranges. I keep it simple for the classic look and feel still thinking of the red dot though.. If I had the money for another gun that would would be setup with some gadgets on it..George
