Gone - Charlie Daniels

Many years ago I went to one of those big country music weekend festivals. The Charlie Daniels Band was scheduled to be the headliner on Saturday night.

Well, of course it rained and stormed on Saturday evening and the show was cancelled before they played.

Charlie stuck around and headlined on Sunday night. He didn't have to, but he did.

My first exposure to Charlie Daniels was "The Ballad of the Uneasy Rider" which I heard on AM Radio in the early 70s. I really got a kick out of that song and have been a Charlie Daniels fan ever since. RIP to a great American Patriot.

I, for one, am truly heartbroken! Been listening the the CDB for 50 years, It just ain't gonna be the same without him! RIP Long Haired Country Boy...

One of my favorites:

Just saw this thread and hadn't heard the news yet. I am devastated. CDB was a big part of my growing up years and I've loved his music ever since. Only got to see him perform once, but man, what a showman he was! R.I.P. Charlie Daniels...Rosin up that Bow!

I was truly saddened by this news.
He was not mealy mouthed but could still be tender when appropriate.
He was not afraid to say the USA is a great country.
He was not afraid to say our God is a great God.

I've seen him him three times and was thrilled each time.
I took my eighty something year old mother with me a couple of years ago and she was so happy to see him play.

See you later saddle tramp.

Charlie and I were emailing back and forth Spring of 2019. He sent me a number of items for my high school rifle team. I gave the items to my athletes at their awards ceremony. They were thrilled to receive them. He was so kind to do this.

I offered to guide him on a quail hunt if he ever had the time. I sure wish we could have connected on this.

Rest in peace, my friend.
