Good Friend and Old Ivory

Ivory has the warmth of anything organic, unlike plastic. A good friend and collector told me years ago that the best thing you can do for ivory, mother of pearl, and many semi precious stones like Opal is to give them a yearly soak in sperm whale oil, since that has long gone out of vogue much like ivory lanolin is an excellent substitute, mineral oil will also work although not as good. You need to feed it much like good wood or it will dry and crack.

That's a bunch of very nice J frames! The ivories gave me pause. I am typically a blue guy, but have a few gorgeous nickel guns. After flipping back and forth, I will take the contrarian view and go for the ivory on nickel look. However ... they are all right! Nice.

They look great Greg. I got the better end of the deal.... a good Buddy and a new holster for Christmas!
