An elderly retired firefighter in Chicago with a concealed carry license fatally shot a robber in broad daylight, according to police.

The unidentified 77-year-old man was in a parking garage in the West Chesterfield neighborhood of Chicago at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The robber, who was also armed, pulled into the garage and demanded the elderly man fork over his possessions.

The man then produced his firearm and shot the robber in the head and chest, killing him, according to police.

Chicago police said the man had a valid Firearms Owner Identification Card and a Concealed Carry License. The Chicago Fire Department also confirmed he is a retired firefighter, Fox 32 reported.

An investigation has been launched into the matter.

HOORAY for him.

Around here the investigation would be to see if there was some kind of medal he could be awarded.

Armed Citizen Shoots Robber

If this has been previously posted I apologize.

A retired elderly firefighter in Chicago shot and killed a mugger. Elderly gentleman was in a parking garage in Chicago and was approached by an armed mugger/robber asking him for all of his personal possessions. Retired firefighter pulled his own weapon and shot the bad guy twice, killing him. Elderly guy was licensed to carry concealed in Chicago.

the 77 year old guy will be lucky if he doesn't have to spend a year or two of his living expenses on a lawyer. that's just the way things are today. speaking from experience.

In Chicago they will be trying to find a way to hang him out to dry.

Shooting someone is a life changing event. Being shot by a dirtbag is also a life changing event. The victim is still with us and will most likely fair well. I wish him the best.

He apparently only needed two shots to defend himself. There's hope yet for those of us who carry J frames.

I hope he won't be charged with anything, but with Kim Foxx as the state's attorney nothing is a certainty.
