sorry if this has been asked before, ill try and change it up a little if it has. I'm going to be taking my CCWD class this weekend and plan on carrying once i get my liscense. I just purchased a SW40VE and I'm wondering if there is a good holster to carry it concealed. I've talked with a few people who said I'd be better off to go with a j-frame for carrying, which I'm totally up for, if I cant find a good holster for the sigma. Any ideas?

I carry a gun identical to yours every day. I have a Kholster if I need to tuck in a shirt. The rest of the time, it is in an Uncle Mike IWB Soft Holster [<$20]at the 3 O'clock position. I think Hume makes a nice soft leather IWB [715?] and I might get one of those too. J-frames are nice guns for concealment, but with the Sigma, you get 14 rounds of .40 S&W without a reload. That is what sold me.

BTW, you can conceal a shotgun if you choose to, so don't let anyone tell you that a Sigma is too big to conceal.

Ive got the SW40VE as well. I have a cheap ebay shoulder holster for just knocking around outdoors in, and as the mood strikes, a Don Hume JT slide and the Uncle Mikes IWB soft holster that mawguy was talking about. If I plan on wearing a coat I use the Don Hume, if not, the Uncle Mikes is good. I wear an ashirt tucked in, then a tshirt untucked and usually a LL Bean khaki vest year round.

+ 1 Kholster. Everyday carry for a sigma can be done. The smooth slide and lightweight make it an easy carry, if you want to pack a .40
. Crossbreed also makes a similar style holster. They both look like a giant tortilla, but are comfortable. IMO.

When I got my Kholster, I tried to wear it with all the "tortilla" looking leather and it was never comfortable. So, I started trimming it down and eventually had ALL of the leather above the clips and below the Kydex off. It is much more comfortable now. I had thought that I needed leather between me and the gun, but I found that it was actually more comfortable to have the Sigma rubbing against my side than the leather which actually cut a bit into my skin.

I carry my Sigma IWB in a holster store holster. It may be considered a cheapie but it's soft leather and very comfy as well as being a perfect fit for my gun. I can conceal it with just a t-shirt but an opened button up or light jacket makes it completely invisible and since I live 4 blocks from their only outlet store I didn't have to order it on Ebay. I've also used my belly band holster for IWB with sweats or even shorts because it won't pull them down.

I like the idea of being able to tuck in my shirt if I need to to further conceal my sigma SW9VE. What are your thoughts on comparing the Kholster with the Crossbread Supertuck? I know the Crossbread is more expensive...any thoughts on this? Thanks!

I don't have any personal experience with the Crossbreed. There are several in this category [i.e., leather back, kydex holder] The basic design gets the best of both worlds with leather against your skin and the good retention of a thin, lightweight kydex. One advantage of this type of holster is the ability to "re-holster" with one hand after a draw. What makes it tuckable are the clips which are very secure in carrying the weight of the pistol, but allow the cover garment to be put over the butt of the weapon. I found that after you tuck, if you pull your shirt out a bit all around, it helps keep from printing which was the original objective.

Lobo makes a nice comfortable IWB at a good price...mine's a P2000 but it's similar in size to the Sigma...

Cool, thanks for the pointers!

I have a Don Hume model 721OT.
It is a 2-slot pancake type, holds the pistol tight to the body,
less than $30 if I remember right.
