Maybe that's why we can't get our Pittsburgh streets plowed & salted. It's not snow, it's "Rivers effect."
Yes stay safe up there near Buffalo/N. Falls Area. I would suppose if you're not prepared to be holed up for a while you may be a new comer to the area. Don't bother running to the store real quick; the milk & toilet paper is long gone. There may be a loaf of bread left but it's that wheat bread with the chunks of dead bugs in the dough to give it that wheaty-old-fashioned-type-bread-look.

The "Lake Effect Machine" is churning hard now. Lake Ontario and Mother Nature have teamed up for this one.
I'm an hour or so east. We see lake effect bands quite often, but so far just an inch and not much more forecasted. The suburbs of Buffalo are getting bombed to the tune of 6" per hour in some spots over night. Plows and "shovelers" can't possibly keep up.
Good luck to our members affected. May you and yours come out the other side unscathed.

This is why some have 2 snow blowers in the garage, in case ya need back up. Fortunately am south far enough to miss the lake effect from Lake Superior. It's also natures way of ridding the landscape of abandoned/weakened/poorly designed buildings.

Anyone up for ice skating or sledding

About 20" on record and still going. The height from the ice layer on my pool to the top is over 2 feet. And it's still snowing. I live about 15 minutes from the Bills stadium. I don't live in the snow belt…I live in the buckle! 😁

For years I've maintained that
residents should pick
up every brick, every board,
every everything and move!

It is so tragic that nearly every
year some motorists are
literally buried alive in storms.

I was born in, and spent 40 years of my life in WNY. My roots are all deeply there still. My extended family are all there, including my elderly parents who are in the exact crosshairs of this south of Buffalo. I truly love WNY and the people there, plus the geography (especially the Finger Lakes), and I miss the seasons, but this is what I don't miss. This kind of storm can really make a mess for a while. Right about now I'm glad for a Florida winter.

Thankfully my parents have a well secured bunker with gas powered generator, supplies, and can hunker down for days. My brother lives right nearby as well. They'll be fine.
