I am looking at putting a sight or scope thats under $100 on my 15-22. Considering getting this Eotech 552 clone.

Eotech 552 Clone Sight

$99 bucks for a clone of a $500 sight. seems good to me

Any other solid sights for a good price?
Pretty much all of my shooting is under 50 yards. So I should be fine with a sight instead of a scope, but I would still consider a nice scope.

Try RRages dot com. These are PRC clones. Well, not really clones, they do look and shoot pretty much like the real sights though.

I've two sights from him, both Aimpoint ripoffs, and they work surprisingly well. You need "high" rings/mount to look over the irons.

Real on the old M4 Carbine and fake on the M&P-15-22 in the photo:

Don't waste your money on an eotech clone. I have seen/used them and they are junk. Just believe me, you will toss it in the garbage after it sits in a box for a year, and I would be embarrassed to resell it on ebay. I have a real one and they are great.

There are quality options, check out primary arms M3 M4 and Micro. Less than $100, and real tough, waterproof, purged, coated glass. They offer nice flip and canted mounts. Their stuff is heavily built, and tough.

I have their M3 in canted mount in front of their 5X magnifier in flip to side mount on my M&P-15 5.56.

It all co witnesses with my irons which are flip Troys.

Best of all worlds, close in, far out and backup.

On your 1st picture

Does your MP1522 have the fix iron sights?
If so does the scope align with them?
Thanks

Could you please post a pic of that if you could? I would like to see how that set up looks
thanks

When you're using an Aimpoint style red dot on a high mount like he has in the pictures it will allow you to use the iron sights still.

This is a picture I took of mine. Same mount and sight style, with my flip sights up.

Buy a real scope, Aimpoint, Eotech, ACOG, etc. and not some POS "clone" of one. There is a reason that they are dirt cheap. Just because it's a 22 doesn't mean it's a toy.

The general rule of thumb is to spend about the same on the optics as you do on the gun.

Both the real and fake M68s are "co-witnessed" with the iron sights. The red dot sits on the tip of the front sight. In fact, that's how you zero these. Just plop on top of your already zeroed rifle and dial the dot onto the tip of the front sight. Move the adjustment knobs backwards from their markings. To move the dot Right turn in the direction marked Left. The markings are for bullet strike movement so once you're on target make any minor adjustments in the marked direction.

I put the "clone" Aimpoint on top of the M&P15-22 because I use this as a 3¢/shot substitute for my 5.56mm M4 and want it as close as possible within reasonable expenses. I neither have nor like the Eotech sights as well.

The fake sights are not crystal clear like the real Aimpoints. For for the price and shooting .22LR they're fine. I can chase shotgun hulls around the range well past 25 meters with either rifle and dot sight all day long.

As noted earlier you need "high" rings for this to work. No need for flip-anything if you set these up right.

The farther from the eye you can place the dot, the easier it it to pickup with both eyes open. Transition between multiple targets is easier too.

Here's a LINK to the first clone I bought. Choice of Red or Green dot. Only two brightness settings. This sits in a box now. Replaced it with a Red version with half a dozen intensity settings.

You can save $30 to $40 if co-witnessing isn't important. I think it's vital (certainly on the 5.56mm rifle) as the rifle has one battlesight zero and you can use the irons without dismounting (or remembering to turn on) the dot sight.

Pry the covers off and put them back on so they fold down, not up into your field of view. They may not do this with a low mount though.

I agree with Jeff, Primary Arms optics have a well earned reputation among dimestore optics. The Micro Dot is also a much smaller profile and lighter than the bulky and heavy EOTech clones. Here is a picture from the rear of the rifle to show the small profile. (For those with an eye for detail.... ya'll might notice something a bit different on my 15-22)

What is the difference between those 3? They seem like good options. As I am 18, my finances will not allow me to follow the "rule of thumb" with optics. I dont want to spend 400-500 on a sight.

Well the point was to lookk aggressive.. it is a prototype and has allready had several chages done

Then I would recomend buying a GOOD regular style scope than spending darn near the same money on a POS knock off "clone" because it looks cool.

Thanks for the responses.

I have fixed sights not flip up, but it looks that based on Chucks post, will be exactly what I need

Most of what people do to their ARs is done to look cool. And I would hardly call a Primary Arms clone a "POS". It won't survive a SEAL dive, the concussion from an IED, or a bullet strike, and it's not NV compatible, but it holds its zero well (on a .22 especially), adjusts well, and mimics the look and feel, which is the essence of a training rifle.

Spending more than $100-200 for optics on this style of .22 is overkill. It's not a combat gun, it's not for betting your life on, taking big game, or shooting sub-MOA groups. It's a plinking gun and low-cost trainer.

And EOTech and Aimpoint sights violate the rule of thumb for standard ARs as well. A $400 sight on a gun that can be anywhere from $800 to $2000.

I really like my Primary Arms M3. I get a really crisp dot when outdoors and I've got it dialed in at 50 yards, which shoots 2" or so low from POA at 25 yards. So far I've shot maybe 500 rounds over the last 5 range trips and it hasn't skipped a beat. I now only wish I had some magnification and I'm thinking about a cheaper 3 or 5x magnifier for 50 yards or more and 3-gun scenario shooting.

Yes sir I do.Looks like it'll bite you when you cock it.

I thought the same thing. Looks kind of nasty, but cool as hell also. Props on inovation.

Rustpot I agree with you and you have the same idea as I would like to do to mine. Drop the irons, red dot sight and a 3x magnifier. I personally have no need or want much past 50yds. I would like to put the magnifier on a swing mount to move it out of the way for up close and personal.

Do you have a link to where you bought your PA sight and model? Thanks. Also a pic of your gun would be nice.

Primary Arms M3
I bought this one with the high cantilever mount.

This is what it currently looks like. I have some colored rail covers on the way (I already chipped one rail, downside of plastic). I'm not sure if I want a 3x or 5x magnifier. After shooting with a 4x ACOG at 50 yards I think 3 might not be adequate, I'd really like to try one first but I can't find anywhere to do so.

So are the Primary Arms good ones? I'm considering the M4 or the Eotech clone. Most of my shooting is about 30 yards. so I dont need any magnification right now. I'm just sick of my iron sights
