Good use for dead socks?

Polyester are only good for tying a knot in and throwing for the dog.

That works much better if you stuff a tennis ball in it first. You can throw it much farther away. Also, its a way of getting rid of "tired" tennis balls.

Make for a nice carry pouch. I used them for under the seat storage on bicycles for years.

Fill, twist, fold over again and strap under the seat.

Like others have said, a perfect mace too. Double the socks, fill with roll of pennies, apply as needed for relief from 'Din do nuffin' types.

For God's sake, man! Shoot them now lest the zombie socks rise!

(Would be an amusing parody of "The Walking Dead" 'tho.)

:D

OK, maybe not that amusing, but it's raining cats & dogs here. Many days in a row. The mosquito hordes have carried off several purse dogs :O

Not to mention... a couple rolls of quarters. (Ever see the movie... Death Wish? Bronson tries it... but uses one of those flimsy-thin dress socks. Whole end busts open... quarters (or dimes) go everwhere.)

but first he dispatches, with certainty, the mugger who threatened him......with the business end of the quarter filled sock......

Rain, mosquitos, what are these things that you speak of? Ain't got them things here in the desert. At least not lately.

There are tons of good uses for old cotton socks. I use them for finishing the furniture I build. I use wipe on poly and socks work great. They're also good for gun cleaning. I cut patches for bore cleaning and I use whole socks to wipe down my guns. Never let them go in the trash.

Beat me to it. Good place to store a few rolls or quarters. :D

Fixed it for ya. :D

I use old tube socks to slip over my fishing reels..

I use stray and old black, dark blue dress socks for thermos and water bottle camo/coozies in the woods hunting. Beats labels and shiny aluminum flashing about, helps with insulation and noise also. Just wash them first.

My favorite pre war Heavy Duty (Aspenhills sock)

Take a heavy wool sock. fold over half way inside out, put a large bar of soap in it and stitch shut. Makes great camping wash cloth, also good for shop sink!

If my socks are dead, it's because my feet kilt 'em. I only pick them up with tongs, or wearing rubber gloves.

On a related note, my dogs keep eating the [seat] out of my dirty undershorts. What's up with that?

My old Crew's have no sole .......... so I feel like a heel trying to repurpose them......... some end up in a sweat as they wait their final fate in "sock purgatory"*.

* "Sock Purgatory": A Home Depot orange bucket in the laundry room. Where many find new mates and/or breed amongst themselves.........................
