Goodbye iPhone.

Got a iphone 5. My wife is very happy with her iphone. Bought them for my daughters and son-in-law. We also have the ipads, etc. Of course not everyone likes everything about everything. It's like salt or sugar. Some folks like to use more, some folks like to use less, a lot of it depends on what the salt or sugar is being used on. Down the road, we'll all likely be using something different from whatever is now available, about like 8-tracks... tape cassettes... VHS... DVD's, etc.

I was assimilated into the Mac world several years ago. Generally, I like it. (sadly, no Jeri Ryan involved.) :(

iOS 8... Meh. Some interesting features, but everything (iPhone 5, iPad 2nd and 3rd gen) runs slower. Once the bugs get worked out (wasn't that why people hated MS - involuntary beta testing at your expense?) I think it'll be fine. Or the inevitable upgrade...

I've had a PDA or smart phone since before Apple "invented" them. Be glad you got rid of them, their copycat but more limited product is nothing but a pain.

I have never owned an apple product and probably never will. Have no use for these so called "smart phones" as I have a computer on my desk, don't need one in my pocket. As long as it can make and receive calls and texts, I'm a happy guy!!

I'm fully mac but am thinking of getting the Samsung Galaxy instead of the new bigger iphone. For those of you with both mac and android, how easy does everything sync up...like pics and calendars? Kozmic?

Mister Sipowicz;):D

I hope when you make the switch you don't start having nightmares.

I've had nothing but problems since the update too. My iPad 2 crashes all the time and is slow as molasses. I have refused to update my iPhone since dealing with this. I love my iPhone because it's simple. It surfs the web fast, has the apps I need, and does what I need it to.

Perhaps you can call me an old curmudgeon and I don't own a cell pone and I can see no reason for everyone having a cell phone. In some cases instant communication is needed such as fire fighters or police but every kid running around with a plastic box stuck up against the side of their head is crazy.

People have become so addicted to them they are dangerous. Last month I was almost run off the road by a Realtor driving her car, holding and talking on her cell and taking notes, all at the same time.

Another case of cell phone addiction. My wife and I were at a restaurant and were seated at a table next to two young women. One had a cell phone in her left had and she never once set the phone down. She was holding the phone all the time she was eating. Would the fraction of a second it would take to pick it up to answer it really make any difference in the scheme of life?

My phone is one which is attached to the wall and has a cord and the phone in my shop has a rotary dial. If I'm not home, leave a message on the answering machine and I'll call you back.

I have no plans to switch from Apple products either. Wife tried the Galaxy for a week but took it back. Menus too deep and complicated for her. In general, she found it less intuitive than her iPhone.

Apple seems to have run out of game changer ideas and is in the mode of adding a few frills to current devices then calling it new. The Apple Watch is new but isn't stand alone, requiring an iPhone... eh so what. I'd like to see what Apple comes up with for a television. There have been rumors for a couple years. Seems like this would be a good time with 4k just getting off the ground.

Don't worry, Hillbilly. Cardboard boxes and hand puppets will still be available.:D

I've never had an iPhone, and am proud of it. I use an old Fogey
flip phone that can take pictures if need be. I don't want to look
like a distracted boob totally unaware of their surroundings
while glued to their electronic devices. That opens you up to
bad things like muggings, robberies, crossing a street against
a light and getting hit by a bus. Not worth it.

Everyone gave me a hard time when they saw my old fogey phone. I gave in and got a smart phone so they'd see that I can keep up. All of a sudden everyone starts texting me. I don't need this stuff. When I want to talk to someone I like to call from home (yeah I keep my home "land line"). The only good I see a cell phone gives me is in an emergency. Sometimes though, when you're in the middle of nowhere and need help, you have no signal.

If my wife didn't keep insisting I have the phone when I go out, I'd toss it. Oh, and the one I have is pay as you go and I never run out of minutes.

Good! Those things require real talent, unlike most of the poop on TV these days. ;) :D

We don't even have basic cable. Some of our neighbors are shocked by this - they'll say something like, "You don't even have cable? It goes right by your house!"
I tell 'em, "I know it goes right by - I let it." :D

Still keeping my 4 S as I hate the size of the newer ones, no problems with the 8 update at all.
