Google is Blocking

I can't say enough about Malwarebytes. If you don't have it, download it and run at least once a week. My computer man found 36 Spybot's on my machine. None since running Malwarebytes.

Lee's instructions are great! No problem since running them. Facebook is the "watering-hole" of viruses and other bad things. If you have it, DELETE. Anyway, I don't want to know all of that stuff!

When this thing hit me and I was finally able to run Malwarebytes, it found over 300 items that had unloaded onto my computer just from this one event. McAfee's does a good job with most of the stuff that can hurt you but it seems to pass over a lot of it when you scan. It's a good idea to have MB on your machine and keep it updated just in case.

Malwarebytes is a good program.
SUPERAntiSpyware is probably better.

I just ran Malwarebytes-
18min-36sec to scan C and D drives
0 infections

Then I ran SUPERAntiSpyware-
16min-28 sec to scan C and D drives

The fact is, folks, in this day and age, if you are very active on the net, I recommend running various programs. You don't have to buy them- just use the free versions, and run them every week or two, more often if you feel the need. Alternate between the ones listed, and see which ones find the most junk.
DON'T FORGET the UPDATES!!

Different programs WILL find different junk! Alternate!

I won't say McAfee and Norton are not good programs. I will say they are large, cumbersome, and slow in my opinion.

Windows Live Onecare is worth running every month or so.

Try to get in the habit of running some program when you are not using the box- when you break to eat, or watch TV or a movie, or go to bed.
RUN a VIRUS scan daily.

KEEP Windows and other programs UPDATED- it makes them HARDER to exploit and less vulnerable.
DEFRAG now and then.
DELETE cookies and Temp files often.

I'm no geek and no guru. EVERYTHING I'm recommending I learned the HARD way. ;)

and........
now that the smoke has cleared, there is one more thing-

My sincere apology to you all for these problems.

It has been a learning experience for us.
I do not believe we could ever be infected like that again, but even if we are, we have a much better idea of how to handle it.

Hang on- it's gonna be a good ride.
