I don't want to mess up the slide trying to get the rear sight off. Not only that but I tried my tools and mine did not fit the allen screw and I know I'd end up stripping it out. So where can I go to get the USB installed and at the same time I'm going to do sights. There was a sight that the guy did work on M&Ps and had a sight kit to where his front sight was the orange/green dot and the rear was blacked out. There was a "combat version" I think and a regular. I can't think of the site!

That was the one thing I found I did not like about the M&P! I made a punch out of a strip of aluminum and wrapped it with a little masking tape. Then with the right size allen wrench it was a piece of cake. The sight came off fairly easy.

Don't let the USB scare you

I too was very leary of messing with the rear sight. However for 3 of my 4 M&Ps, it ended up very, very easy. All of my set screws easily loosened with no heat needed. Then they were very easy to drive out with a nylon punch. I would seriously recommend a nylon punch versus any sort of metal punch. I think I got 3 nylon punches from Brownells for something like $5. I didn't even have to put these in a vise - just rested them and held them on a roll of masking tape used as a block. These all were returned to zero with no markings or damage whatsoever to the slide or sight.
This was not the case on my Shield however. The set screw loosened easily enough but the sight just wouldn't budge. No damage but beyond my comfort zone. I think once I get the chance, I will send it to James at xd-xs2000.
Welcome
I've never used him before but he comes highly recommended on several of the other forums. I personally wouldn't touch a front sight myself so I plan to get him to install a fiber optic front sight. Hope this helps.

Stopsign. The Ameriglo website has the orange and green along with the rear blacked out sights.

Yes but what I'm talking about was actually a site. Warrentactical comes to mind but I checked it out and that's not it from what I remember. I think it was actually only one guy. His rear sight was blacked out but with 2 low glow dots lower on the rear sight. :( Someone help

This guy also did other mods to the M&P.

Wow. I live in a midsize town and we have at least 3 gunsmiths locally. I would sooner take my pistol to a local person than ship it somewhere; especially if friends recommend them.

Yes, the Bowie Tactical website has the Ameriglo night sights and blacked out sights. Have you been onto the Ameriglo website? If you go to the Ameriglo website you can click on the "Items List For 2013" and it'll show you ALL the sight combinations and for which gun. I got the orange sight as you had described and now waiting on my single rear Idot for my 9mm Shield.
