I fought it long and hard but just couldn't resist anymore. Here are a nice pair of 1873 Peacemaker Clones.

Here they are in their Rigs.

Here is where I have a question for you Leather Holster Types. As you can see in this picture, the Hammer Strap would hook over the Hammer. Once adjusted to the proper setting; What do you do with the rest of the strap and leather strings?? Could use a little help here please!

Sure could use some good information here! Thanks in advance!

Note Added: The leg tie leather pieces are attached at the end of the holsters. This strap is located at the upper part of the holster.

I had to keep to my Blacksmithing nature so my SASS Handle is . . . . . Trip Hammer!

That's some fine looking shooting irons and rig. I've not seen a hammer thong quite like that but I like it. The way it's made it looks like you would tie them to something but I don't know what unless it's around your leg and I don't think that would be it. Hmm, maybe one of the other guys will know.

May just hang and dangle, kind of like fringe .

WHAT COLTS! You should be shooting S&W 44/40's to go with your 1873 44/40!

I only wish that the S&W Scofields were Massachusetts legal! I can't stand this state and it's Approved Gun List.

Welcome Pardner - Ben Cartwright here, I actually do have 3 son's and my youngest is left handed and his handle in SASS is Joe Cartwright

Howdy Trip!
Great looking rig you have there! Welcome to CAS. I have been involved for at least 15 years and go by the name of Grizzly Skinner. (Most folks just call me Grizz.)

Those hammer thongs (yep, that's what they are called) can just hang on down. If you think they are too long, just cut them back a bit. Most I've seen tend to hang just below the bottom of the holsters.

Are those six shooters Cimarrons (Uberti)? What caliber did you choose?

Anyway, best of luck to ya, and if you are ever in the vicinity of RI, come on down and visit us, and sling some lead! We are the Lincoln County Lawmen. Click here for more info.

Welcome to the most fun shooting activity I have ever had the pleasure of being involved with. I've been a SASS member long enough that my SASS badge # is 3240, what is yours?

I am E Z MUNNY, a very distant relative of William P. Munny but every bit as mean and ornery.

Howdy Pard!

You'll have fun in CAS. I have two Aliases, or is it Alias'........?

"Rancid Roy" and "Major Mayhemm".

As to the gunleather. I would remove the thinner leather thong from the hammer thong and keep it somewhere when I wanted to sell the leather.

I would keep the larger part of the hammer thong intact and just let the excess hang next to the holster. It should not interfere with your "draw".

If it does, trim it.

There is very little resale value in gunleather unless it is older, collectible stuff. But you may want to keep the rig as "whole" as possible for future readjustments and sale.

Good luck.
