I'm really happy, I picked up my first 15/22 at the local gun show today :D I paid about MSRP (even though it's used) but the guy threw in a scope, case and Magpul sights (not installed), so it seemed fair.

My question is about the bolt. I noticed that when I pull back the charging handle it seems a little "rough" and sometimes when I release it, it doesn't seem to go completely forward. Is this something I should be very concerned about?

I'm not able to take it to the range for a couple days, so I have no way of test firing it.

Looks like a beauty though . . .

Take it apart and clean / lubricate the bolt & upper receiver. It's probably nothing more than that.

Pull out the bolt assembly and see if it slides easily and smoothly on the rails. Probably has some powder residue on the rails. Clean them well. The only thing I lube is the rails the bolt slides on and very very little at that. Maybe polish them a bit with some 600 grit. Should be like butter.

OK, thanks. Will do. This is only my second firearm and first used one. I bought a S&W 22a pistol. Really enjoy it.

Aside from needing a good cleaning, is there anything that could actually be wrong with the rifle? Today is the last day of the gun show and then the seller is gone.

I've been watching YouTube videos and when you pull back and release the charging handle - it snaps right back. Mine isn't so "snappy"

While you're cleaning the bolt /rails, check the ends of the rails to make sure there are no burrs on the end from when they were cut out at the factory.

Congrats: Sounds like you got a good deal. Sounds like that is all that it needs is just a good cleaning. I've seen a lot of used firearms over the years that were traded in without being cleaned.

Ok, thanks guys! I'm just really new and started thinking maybe I got taken advantage of.
