Said that I would never buy one. Never say Never, anyways, I am looking for a 617 pre lock right, none to be found. Found a 617-6 4" on GB $550.00 buy it now, yep did it. Got it yesterday, range trip today. I must say it is Sweet. I have had several K22 pre models, but I think this may be the one I have been searching for. Thoughts on trigger job, Wolf spring or not. Plug it or not? Love my wheel guns!!!!
Enjoy the Spooks, Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought my 617 no dash, 6" had a heavy DA trigger. Just got it back from my gunsmith and what a difference. SA triggers usually don't trouble me, but light is nice, especially in a 22 target gun.

Six of my seven guns with lock provisions have had The Plug installed. I am not an anti-ILS bigot, but the lock serves no purpose for me, and most are magnums that present some risk of shaking a lock into engagement. Don't forget to put one of the little ILS keys on your key ring. It could serve you, or you could be the Good Samaritan for someone else with a locked gun. The key is universal.

Congrats Alan!
That is a fine revolver.

Mine gets a LOT of use. I guess you could say that the most expensive (but fun) 'trigger job' is to send many thousands of rounds down range! :D

I like to leave them stock, but it's just preference. Either way, have fun with your 617. ...it's hard not to

I have a 617-2 that I love. I installed the type 1 Wolff mainspring and 15 lb trigger return spring. The nature of rimfire ammo it takes a harder hot for reliable ignition. I had lots of misfires but a forum member here helped me out. If you change the stock strain screw for a set screw with blue loctite you can adjust the tension to reliably fire your chosen ammo. I have found I can go lighter with Federal standard velocity or other high end 22 ammo. For cheap bulk ammo I have to add a 1/2 turn on the tension screw. Unfortunately you can't get a 22 to fire reliably with a really light spring.

Congrats on a sweet revolver!

As far as the IL goes, I rely on a 442 and a 60-15 with a lock quite a bit for my personal safety. In the unlikely event of a failure, I'm sure you can ask the tin cans to halt their attack while you rectify the problem. I'm assuming this is a range/plinker?

OMG Alan, bought an ILS gun and you haven't been consumed by spontaneous combustion??

Just kidding, enjoy the gun. ILS isn't the end of fun with revolvers. Don

I thought the world was coming to the end with the lock. Then I got a 629 Classic with the profane lock and it has a fine single and double action. The world is still coming to an end, just not right now.

Those guns are just too good to be true.

Take the rebound slide out and polish the bearing surfaces also the channel it rests in. Install a 14lb return spring and you will be more than good to go.
