I got my 1st Moderna shot and didn't even cry today! Second one is May 3rd. My pharmacy girl said her second one hurt afterwards but she survived. I've ordered my wife to get hers; that didn't go over too well! I don't know why some people are against the shots. It's all experimental, I know, but enough people have had their shots and probably 99.9999% didn't die from it, so I just told Mrs. Refrigeration to make sure her life insurance is paid up in case she gets the virus and bad things happen. She's about 8 years younger than me so that's in her favor, her sister is a nursing supervisor and she can't talk her into it, either. Of course, my 20 year old daughter follows Mom's lead. I even told wife I'd give her one of my happy pills but she still refuses. Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I'm no psycho-doctor.
Seriously, why are people against it? So what if the gov't is shooting microchips into us? If it keeps the virus away, who cares?
 
Got my first one on 2/28, second on 3/21. About four hours after each shot, I had a mild headache that lasted about an hour...and that was it.

Cases are on the rise, and younger people are getting sick...this thing is far from over. We can't let our guard down...
 
Now they need to make a vaccine for the various mutations that have popped up. I get my first C19 on Apr 2. Don't know which one yet.

Got my first and only, J&J, about a month ago. Zero side effects, not even sore at the injection site. Mrs got the first Pfizer with no reaction. She gets second one on Monday.
I have friends that refuse to get it.
If the fed was injecting a micro chip, I’d pass, but that’s not the case.

I'm no doctor either, but I try to listen to them.
The Mrs and I are getting out 2nd shots next Monday. We can't wait! We both had slightly sore arms after our first Pfizer vaccine. I only had a faint red spot, which was shaped exactly like the band aid they put over the injection site. :rolleyes:

We lost at least 4 members of our collectors club and several members of our gun club to covid. Several of our neighbors and a few good friends caught the virus and survived. One friend still has serious, lingering health issues almost 6 months later.

Now that kids are back to school and restrictions have loosened, cases are on the rise again here in Michigan. 95% immunity works for me. It's also comforting to know that if you're one of the 5% who gets covid after being immunized, chances of requiring hospitalization are virtually zero.

If there's ever a reason to put your foot down and take a stand, this is it. The virus is nothing to take lightly.

- Tell your wife how much you love her and let her know you're not willing to risk losing her to something preventable.

- Arrange a conference call with her doctor and get his/her opinion.

- Make the appointment for your wife and drive her there. Hold her hand while she's getting the shot. Hold her down if she resists (just kidding about holding her down)!

-If your daughter still refuses to get immunized, tell her she's not allowed in your house.

Wife and I have had both Moderna shots.... First one caused a slightly sore arm. (I've had worse...) 2nd one made me feel like I was coming down with something (kind of punk) and only lasted a couple of days. I was told that it was my immune system building a defense to the virus in case I was exposed to it. A little Tylenol worked just fine..


As for why some folks are against it, I can't comprehend. I guess there are just those that don't like anything different or any kind of change.
 
Got my #1 shot (Pfizer) on Tuesday Mar30, no obvious reactions since or in the 48 hours following the shot.

However, not sure if it's related but I seem to have acquired an overwhelming interest in buying me a Norinco pistol.
 
I am getting my second jab of Moderna on Sat....the day after I turn 75. Looking forward to it and getting back to a little more normal life. The first shot was a walk in the park, hope for same with second. It seems to me that younger people seem to have a little more after shock from the vaccination than the older folks. I wonder if they have a more active immune system that reacts more forcefully?

Shouldn't you have had your second jab by now, only 21 days spacing on Pfizer?

My suggestion is that you ask your wife to consult something/someone other than social media for advice as to the pros and cons of the vaccine. The advice above to consult your/her doctor is a good one.

It, the vaccine, is not experimental. Those approved for use have been rigorously tested. I've given hundreds of Pfizer vaccinations to those 62 and older and recently to 40 and up. With follow up's via phone and text the most serious side effects we've had are the sore arm for a few days after. The only time people got really upset was when we ran out of vaccines for a week and had to reschedule everyone. One thing I have noticed is that a large percentage of the medical field are not getting the vaccine, those involved in home health, nursing home fields. I'm a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner and it amazes me the number of people who identify with this anti-vax crowd.
 
Got my second Pfizer this morning, and I think I may have begun to transform into a lizard.

No, seriously it was no big deal. I did have a bit of difficulty finding the place, though. Second shot is being given at a different location from the first here. I punched the address into Google maps and found that it directed me to a parking lot. Turned out to be across the street. For some reason our first shots are being administered at the county hospital's urgent care centers. The second shots are at a private hospital's "community health clinic."
 
My Wife and I have had both shots.. felt iffy for a day. rotate your arm for several minutes afterwards helps eliminate soreness. VA Dr told me that feeling bad for a day os so isn't all bad as it says your antibodies are working...Those folks who refuse to get shots are simply going to continue the spread of the virus..*sigh*

I got the CORONA Virus in October. Was sick, but not deathly so, and I was 64 at the time.
Thought it was just a case of bronchitis. Asked the Dr. to do a test while I was there. Tested positive.
Reluctantly got the first vaccine shot last week.

This is the part about COVID that really ought to worry us the most. We don't know what the long-term health effects of this illness will be. Twenty, 30, 40 years from now...what will happen to the young folks who today are ignoring masks and social distancing recommendations, and who figure that this whole thing is no big deal?

When we were kids and got chicken pox, who ever thought it would cause shingles when we were old enough to collect Social Security? COVID has been around less than 18 months...we have no idea what it's going to do to its victims in the long run. :(
 
Got the first Moderna shot 3/3/21, slight soreness the next day. Second shot was yesterday. The tech grabbed a handful of muscle and jabbed the needle in and then I could feel the serum flowing into the muscle. About 3 hours later shoulder was really hurting, took a tylenol. 3 hours later couldn't lift my arm above the shoulder. Took 2 Tylenol, went to bed, had to take 2 more Tylenol at 3:00 am. This morning it was much better. I think it was the way the tech administered the shot.
 
My wife tested positive in October and, other than a nasty onset, was pretty well after that. I was a presumed positive and was asymptomatic. We both got our 2nd Moderna two weeks ago today but are still observing precautions.
This thing has a broken half-cock notch and you DON'T want to drop it!
