Got the new 2.75" 66-8 "Combat Magnum"

I did the bob job, DAO only conversion, and plugging this morning. I'll have some pics tomorrow, if I can.

I agree. Butt ugly. So, I swapped out the black hardware for bead blasted silver. Also swapped out the stiff factory main spring. Oh, almost forgot, had to recut the forcing cone because it was tossing shrapnel in my face. Seriously, left the range with bleeding wounds on my face. Did a post about it at the time. Anyway, it's all fixed up and a regular in the hiking carry rotation.

I'm not sure if I'll bother swapping out the blacked out bits, but I do intend to use it primarily as the hiking carry.

Unfortunate about the forcing cone situation. Mine appears to be good.

I think the GP100 looks okay...especially in three inches...and the Redhawks are hideous.

Pretty much ALL Ruger Revolvers look like Whoopi Goldberg. Their Mark I and Mark II semi-auto .22's are good looking and comfortable rim-fires as well as their 10/22 rifles and their .44carbine. Everything else they make though...

I regret selling my model 60 and model 65. I bought a new snub nose model 60, and one of the snub nose model 66. I do not like adjustable sights, so I put D & L fixed sights on it. No other changes made. I am pleased with both.

Rick, Nice looking revolver. Could one of you guys that own one do some accuracy test at 25 yards and let us know.
The NRA Police Combat off duty match allows revolvers to have a max 2.75 barrel, always was that way .I guess it accommodated Ruger or some brand. Most of us shot 2.5 19s or 66s. BUT it was always a risk to get full case ejection with the short rod. Specially with the need to reload quickly. It seemed like the only time a case would stick or slip under would be during the faster phases, no matter how careful you were. So when autos were allowed most of us switched. NOW with this model 66 maybe revolvers could be used again. The gun needs to hold X ring at 25 so about 1.5 to 2" max. Thanks Bob

Here are some of my initial tests at 25 yds. Rested on carpet square or range bag. 72 yr old eyes and trigger finger. I'm sure all of these would be in your accuracy range of 1.5" - 2" or better with some work/diff shooter.

I think all the info is on each target.
