I just got a governer and went out 2 time now. The first time after 50 or so rounds of assort ammo the trigger started not working everytime. It is getting worse now. its turning into a single action. if you cock the hammer it will fire. But if you just pull the trigger its locking up about every other shot. Has anyone had this problem? Its only about a month old.

Sounds to me like it could be the hammer block. When I had my side plate off removing the lock, I had to take side plate off a couple times to make sure the hammer block was inserted correctly. I don't know why I had such a hard time with it but I did. You might try that. If you are not comfortable taking it off than its back to Smith, I personally like trying to figure it out myself. Good luck.

Have lots of issues with my Governor in New York, I would rather have your issues than mine I think.

I can't tell if this is a play or words...but either way it's genius! Also, I have been looking at this gun for a while now. Especially the new version in Stainless, I hope this isn't the case with all of them and that you can get it sorted out.

If this is a new gun, you can contact S&W and arrange to have the gun repaired under warranty. I would do so, since there seems to be something very wrong.

The "NEW" Governor is still a Scandium alloy frame with a clear coat finish. The frame isn't "stainless".

You said it is new. I think we can rule out a dislodged hammer block or a backed out strain screw. If I had a dollar, I'd bet it that your new Governor is in need of a good scrubbing. Sometimes, just the right amount of crud in the right places can cause lots of problems. 100 rounds, depending on make, etc. is enough to generate the right amount of crud. Check the front of the cylinder to see if it's rubbing against the barrel. If so, clean it. Clean, clean, clean.
