Governor signs ammo restriction bill in California

This is going to be the new focus of gun control groups (Brady, etc.) Cost of ammo in Ca will become prohibitive and the number of gun owners will fall. Walmart is already saying they going to leave the ammo market in Ca - they already left the gun market because of Ca laws. Even though law doesn't take effect until 2011(Feb) Cabelas and other large internet dealers are considering stopping all sales to Ca. immediately. I fully expect Reno,Nv gun stores to start asking for id when buying ammo and refusing to sell to Ca. residents - much as they already do with high capacity mags. The brady camp, et all already see this as the "nose under the tent" and a way around Heller. If Heller is "incorporated" the law suits will fly and this may be reversed - but in the mean time we're (CA residents) screwed!

It seems as how, the politicians and anti-constructionist gun grabbers know no bounds as to how low they'll go. Everyone recall all the posts saying how "guns weren't going to be gone after"? Well in a sense, they spoke the truth! They haven't gone after the weapons at all? I'm sure it'll work out well however. Doesn't everything seem to lately?

I think we need to maintain some positive attitude here. Laws like this show weakness of the anti-gun crowd not the strength. Yes, right now they've got votes in CA, but they don't have any legal basis for their cause and they know it. So, they are reduced to passing meaningless laws, pretending they are worried about condors, equating compact Glock magazine to an ammo belt, and other nonsense like this. That tells me that they are the ones who feel screwed.

Gun grabbers are not as united as one might think either. Read Sykes: Sacramento sheriff is already threatening to issue CCW's liberally if his budget is reduced. Not bad for starters. If McDonald is won, Sykes is likely to prevail. If Sykes is won, then CA becomes a must issue state. That's a brave new world, folks. In the big picture, high cost of ammo is a mere inconvenience. Hopefully more CA gun owners will start reloading and eventually become better shooters.

That's how I look at this pitiful law.

Mike
