Governor

I believe that the market will speak on this gun. Whether it will be successful or not, who knows? The collectors out there are hoping it will be short lived so they will now have another collectible gun. :)

I don't think giving people a false sense of security is a good idea.

Some just might not feel confident in carrying a "normal" gun, and if a revolver of this type gives them some confidence and a measure of protection, enough so that they will have/carry it as opposed to nothing, then good.

I don't think giving people a false sense of security is a good idea.

I don't see it as a false sense of security...if a person cannot or will not carry any other firearm, but will carry a Governor or a Judge (for whatever reasons) is that not better than nothing at all? Now, if that person believes it to be the perfect solution, better than any other choice, that would be a far different matter.

Pacer, now there's one I haven't thought of in a while. It and the Matador was two ugly cars. IMHO.

I don't think anything can hold a candle to the Pontiac Aztec!

We had a number of Pontiacs when I was growing up, and I've owned a few as an adult...but that kind of styling says a lot about why they are no more.

I hope S&W isn't heading down that path...

The 'Judge' didn't do anything for me, & this won't either. That said you can't argue with the success of 'Da Judge'. It's all marketing & perception,(mostly anyway).

People love the "latest and greatest" and gun buyers are no exception:)

Wait until the "Governor" appears in a movie, like the "Judge" was in Max Payne........S&W will get this revolver in some cheesy action flick, like Punisher 2 or something and people will run out and buy them in bunches.......they already got a .500 in "Red".

5 rounds of .410 slugs or 00 Buck is potent enough medicine for any 2-legged predators, and I know MANY people I have heard, say "A .410 revolver is a cool idea but I'll never touch a Taurus"........well, there's your market for the Governor! Those that have been waiting for a gun maker to put out a well-made .410 wheelgun, and not a Brazilian tackle box anchor.

I don't want or need a governor or a judge; but I don't have the desire to gun bash either...If you don't like a gun, just don't buy it...

Well said. While it saddens me to see S&W making near-copies of the LCR and the Judge, they're responding to what they think the market wants. They need to sell guns, after all; nostalgia won't make the payroll.

We're a tough group to please. We want S&W to stay in business, but we don't want them to change. We complain about pricing, but we bemoan "cost-cutting" measures. We complain about the IL, but...well, OK...I'll give you that one. ;-)

I can't imagine a situation where a .410 revolver would be the optimal choice, but different strokes...

+1 for that, if it helps S&W stay in business I'm all for it.

For those that bemoan the MIM parts to save labor and production costs, how many of them would pay $2,000 for a new 686+ if everything was forged and hand fitted? This ain't 1962 anymore.......

its all about business and making money. heck sig sauer puts plastic guide rods in $1,200 semi auto hand guns to save money. if this gun makes smith $$ and helps with keeping them making guns i like i'am all for it. but it is one hokey weapon that i will never buy.

I havent read this whole thread so Im not sure if its been brought up yet or not, but I have just seen something even uglier than the governor. For the first time, I have seen a picture of the polymer judge. Lets hope S&W doesnt try to make a copy of that. I am not sure if this is something new for Taurus or if it has just failed to catch my attention before now. Either way, i wish my eyes would have never been scarred with that image.

man i would never fire that big piece of crap. i'd be scared it blow apart in my hand. i wish taurus would close its doors. i don't think i like not one of there lines of weapons.

Money, Money, Money, you would think Smith & Wesson would occupy the moral high ground on this. NEYT!

Am I the only one on this board who thinks one of these would be fun to safely shoot hand-thrown aerial targets out of the air with? I want to get one and do some experimenting.

BTW several students have brought Taurus Judges to my class and to my great relief, none would accept a factory .460 round. I assume the Governor is the same.

Any link to the BATF quash of the 28 gauge Judge. What's the reasoning? Military type? No sporting purpose? BS
