Hay guys my mom gave me my grandpa's s&w mod 19-5 and I was wondering how old it was the sn# starts with ABNXXXX any help would be much appreciated

Welcome to the forum. The book doesn't list every three-letter prefix, but it lists ABL in January 1983.
With that in mind, I'd guess your gun dates to early-to-mid 1983.
If it still has the original wood grips on it, there will probably be a date ink-stamped on the inside of one of the wood grips.
That might help you get a closer date. I don't know if the stamped date is when the gun was assembled or when the grip was made or installed, but I think the stamp may help with a rough guess.

The date on the grip will be anywhere from a few days to a few months before it shipped.
