I was shopping at the local store today, and in the Italian section, just down from the olive oil, they had grape seed oil.

Being a curious individual, I figured I'd ask the knowledgeable folks on the best forum there is...

What the heck is it for, and what do you do with it? :p

It was a bit expensive...at $5.99 for 10oz...I'd say expensive.

It did say on the label, "Made in Italy, 100% pure, no solvents"

It can be used like any other cooking oil. It does have the benefit of having a high (about 420 degrees F) smoke point so it can be used in high heat cooking without filling the house with smoke.

It has a fairly neutral taste so it can be used in sald dressings and homemade mayo without adding any of its own flavor.

I usually keep a jar of it and a jar of peanut oil in the house for occasional use where there will be high temps involved.

I took a short BBQ class one evening at a local store and they recommeded using grape seed oil to spray on the grill for BBQ-ing as a non-stick coating. Works better than most I've tried so I'm sticking with it.
I use it for cooking my eggs in the morning as well.
