Here in SW Florida we often contend with 30 degree temperatures in our two weeks of winter. It really puts a crimp in our outdoor cooking. But seriously, our 8 months of summer (its been high 80's or low 90's for the last three months and just today has seen the start of summer) curtails my outdoor activities more and more every year. I grew up down here before the advent of air conditioning and I remember wondering what people were complaining about with the heat. I also remember loving the clockwork rains every afternoon because of the following coolness. But at 67 I feel the pain. Still, I manage to burn a steak now and then (fast and hot works for me). What do you burn on the grill in the heat of the summer? I

I live in Michigan and we don't get too hot summers but the winters can be brutal and I don't want to spend much time then standing in front of a grill either. For those times I throw a couple steaks on the grill and retreat into the house where I can keep an eye on them through a window.
We had a cool summer last year and never did turn on the A/C. So far this year it's been the same and haven't turned it on yet either.
I really don't have so much problem with the heat myself anyhow and could sit in my chair in the heat and slow cook ribs enjoying a beer. Then again in my job I worked in the summer on top of commercial building with black roofs fixing their HVAC. Not sure I could handle that anymore though.

It's been unusually warm here in the frozen north for the past few weeks - heck, we even had a few days in the 80s. I'd grill every darn day if I had the time!! Weather is our limit to grilling during the other half of the year. At 30degrees, I'd be out there burning something in a heart beat! In fact, when it's below 40, I have a blanket for the Traeger that helps hold in the heat (how sad is that).

Not a seasonal thing for me down this way, just line up more red soldiers during the summer. I use short tongs and try not to play with my food too much.

I'm grilling venison backstrap for Father's Day, I like to cook it on the rare side so it don't dry out.

It doesn't matter if it is winter or summer, rain or shine.
I grill whatever strikes me with natural gas or over coals under my patio cover and a nice climate is a few steps away, behind the sliding glass door.
My buddy calls this a "poor man's paradise." :)

Do fish fall into the category of "last thing you shot"?

Some quail I shot last year with S&W .38 caliber +P protection.

Every kind of meat regardless of the season.

The favorite is beer can chicken. Unbelievably tender, juicy and flavorful.

I used to do sound work which required a lot of attic time. I never had a problem with it as long as I had enough water available until around the age of 50. I passed out in the attic of a mortuary of all things and the doctor I saw suggested another line of work. Evidently, your body loses the ability to process the water efficiently with aging. I doubt I'd last 5 minutes up there these days. You don't know what heat is until you've experienced attic temperatures down here.

Tonight it's fresh Copper River salmon - fresh asparagus and wild rice on the side - might do some garlic toast as well. Nice day today with a high of 78 with light breeze, my kind of weather.
