Hello Forum,
I just picked up a Model 28-2. The revolver came with two grips, a set of rubber aftermarket grips, and the original wooden grips. The rubber grips were on the gun, the wooden grips are original to the revolver but the original grip screw was lost.
Can you guys tell me about the correct original grip screw, my revolver is blued, was the original grip screw blued? I would like to replace the grip screw with an original but S&W says they don't make them anymore, I want to post in the "I am looking for" section of the forum, I just want to post the correct information.
Thanks!
Rabbit
Darn, I put this in the wrong forum!

Try Numrich, Brownells.com, and maybe even Midwayusa.com. the screws are not blued but more like nickel plated or some other like finish.
And congrats on your new Model 28!
Try Amazon instead.

Going off on a tangent - They don't make them anymore?

I realize that most of the revolvers have rubber grips, now, but the classics have wood.

Classics - Smith & Wesson

Did they change the screw size or something?

This is very confusing. I need more coffee.

And don't bother going down to the local hardware store . I spent a complete Saturday going to every place in Baton Rouge, La. that sold screws. Small one man, family owned hardware stores, large national chain stores and great big home improvement stores and even auto parts places. I found absolutely nothing to match S&W grip screws. Monday I went to a commerical fastener company, they claimed to have every fastener, screw, bolt , nut ,nail , anchor and staple for home , construction and industrial use ......guess what they didn't have, The guy looked for nearly two hours and couldn't match it. said it was some kind of English thread !
The screw from a set of Ahrend's grips fit so the next time I ordered grips I asked for and recieved an extra screw. Thank you Kim Ahrend.
