I have a 625-8 with houge grips looking to replace them with something else.. The 625 has a screw mount on the bottom with the new grips can I remove that mount or does it stay maybe wood or packmayer?
So that screw mount is proprietary to Hogue. It has to be removed to work with most other grips. The way I have always removed it is with a flat bladed screwdriver. You have to be really careful with the screwdriver to not scratch your gun while you pop the mount blade over one side of the pin. Then it's a little tricky to get the other side of the mount over the other end of the pin without the first side getting back on the pin. Hold that end off the pin with your thumb while you pop the other side off with the screwdriver. Go slow and careful and methodical and you'll get it. I usually save the screw mount by stuffing it into the Houge grip I am replacing for when you want to use it again. Those Hogue grips aren't so bad once you get used to them.I have a 625-8 with houge grips looking to replace them with something else..
