Grips for K RB and large hands

Hello,

I have a 3" Model 65 that I'd like to carry and occasionally shoot IDPA with, and I wear size XL gloves so a lot of grips are too small for me. It came with a factory wook grip with finger grooves that's comfortable but the backstrap is exposed to it's on the small side. There's also a rubber Hogue grip that fits my hand a little better but still has the backstrap exposed and feels small. I have a larger rubber grip on my 4" model 10 (a Hogue Tamer, I believe) that's very comfortable and covers the backstrap but seems a bit on the big side length-wise for concealed carry. Is there anything else out there I should be looking at? Thanks!

Pachmayr makes the "Gripper" for the round butt K.

The back strap is covered and offers a cushion. I use these on my round-butt model 66 for hot .357 loads.

Infrared35 with XL hands might want to track down a set of K frame round butt Rogers grips. Shouldn't be a concealment issue if your height/weight is also XL.

I have large hands as well. I EDC this Detective Special with custom Herrett's Jordan Troopers. (They carve the grips using an outline of your hand for sizng.)





I know that it's a common belief that a large grip is hard to conceal, but I think other than the size of the grip, how tightly your clothes fit, and how tightly your holster tucks the grip into your side, and your body type, all make a big difference.

I'm 6'2", 230, and wear this gun with a Mitch Rosen pancake holster which tucks the grip right under my rib cage. I find it comfortable, and think it conceals well with a pancake.

IIRC, Pachmayr Presentation and Compact grips also cover the backstrap. Also, Hogue Tamer's:

I too have your problem, except I like the J frame guns! Curt Harlow is a grip maker that solved my problem!

The two guns pictured appear to have the same grips, but they are not! The 640 Centennial's, DA only, grips have the back strap uncovered! The mod 60 grips have the back strap covered because it is shot most of the time in SA which means the trigger pull starts back further in the trigger guard. This is Curt's email [email protected]

Pachmayr "presentation" grips work well, even square butt on rb revolver function as intended. If'n I need a real oversize grip I have just the ticket. Joe

Onomea as you said the holster choice will go a long way to concealing the revolver with oversized grips, the pancake style is the best for outside the waistband. Perfect example is your Detective Special and Mitch Rosen holster. About the only limiting factor I can think of for large grips would be pocket carry. Taking a guess that this was a consideration with the short butt Colt Agent.

While I agree with most of Onomea comments when you conceal carry there is a trade off undoubtedly- smaller grip easier to conceal harder to shoot, big grip easier to shoot harder to conceal just the way it is. You and only you have to decide which is more important and accept the trade off.
For me I will sacrifice a bit of shootability for better concealment on a carry gun.

I got a pair of grips from Thailland for my EDC, good enough quality, fair price, and work in my pancake concealed, offer a good full grip.

Herrett's Jordon Trooper and / or Trace an outline of your hand on their order form , and they will make the grips you want to custom fit your hand ... That is as good as it gets when it comes to "Grips Fitting Your Hand"
