Just picked up a 19-7 6" (round butt) that had some god-awful Uncle Mike's grips on it. I'd like to get some respectable shoes for this new shooting iron. In fact, the first thing I did was take off the Uncle Mike's and cleaned heaven knows what from the frame.

I am generally partial to square butts (easy with the jokes), but this was a very nice looking revolver at a good price so it had to come home.

Thoughts for options?

If needed, I can get the appropriate factory stocks for the round butt, but thought I'd ask for some thoughts and opinions.

Oh, and the Uncle Mike's craptastic grips will NOT be going back on.:)

Thanks!

Uncle Mike (RB-SB conversion stocks) would have been factory for it.

The great thing about the RB frames is your options are almost limitless. A lot of companies make SB conversion stocks for RB frames; wood, rubber. take your pick.
If you want you can get Hogue monogrip conversions grips with the S&W logo on them.

I really like the feel of the older S&W rb combat grips. They have gotten so danged expensive but they would be nice on that gun. Might want to do a rb to sq conversion for that bbl length. How about nice wood Hogues?

Hi Folks.
I had no idea the Uncle Mike's would have been factory.

I'll have to check out the Hogue's.

Thanks tons!

I have had good luck with the grips made by Altamont. This is an example on a round butt model 617 K frame.

I bought a 21-4 new and was amazed at how small the factory wood grips were....in fact, when you remove them from the gun, they look like they'd fit a J-frame.

I experimented around with what fit my hand. Several brands of round to square were too big for my relatively small hands, and I ended up with Hogue round butt, which were significantly larger than factory and fit my hand nicely.

I guess the obvious lesson I'm expounding upon is to experiment until you find one that fits!

Ahrends round to square conversion!

Agreed, for a 6" I'd be inclined to go with the round-to-square butt conversion stocks. My favorites are Ahrends' Retro Combats, which have finger grooves. But I recently put a pair of Ahrends' Retro Bananas on a 2 1/2" 19-3, and like them a lot, also.

Altamont also has agreement with S&W to sell grips with factory
medalions.

Wow - Beauty. That's what I'm looking for.

I'll do some searching around, but the Altamont grips look like what the Dr. ordered.

Thanks to all for the terrific insight and opinion!!
